Philips enthusiast here

Hello Ewout we both share the Philips audio bug - my Dad worked for Philips Canada as the manager for their technical services lab and fortunately I was able to work there for a few summers while in college back in the late 70's early 80's - this is where a huge number of hi fi prototypes and production audio equipment were put to the test - from MFB speakers to seeing original prototypes of the compact disc players - back then Philips Canada had DIY speaker kits which I would put together for testing in their sound chamber so that's how I got to know Philips audio - I've had numerous components throughout the years and have finally settled with the Philips system I have today which I'll share with the forum - the units are the lab series Ah6731 tuner,Ah5721 preamp and Ah5781 power amp along with the N4520 RTR , Cd960 cd player( an absolutely outstanding analog sounding cd player) AF887 TT with the GP406 mkll cartridge , the FC870 cassette deck and a FT880 digital tuner all running through the FB825 speaker systems - I've had the Black tulip series components as well but there is just something about the USA made lab series especially when combined with the FB825's that really makes the FB825's shine - the set up is split between gear made from 1978-1981 and then 1989-1991 - I've recapped everything but the N4520 which is my next project -
Regards Mike
