audio gurus, whats your take on using pink noise and freq sweeps for breakin in speakers??havin gone thru a lot of info regarding the same,i find that like most other theories this too has its own schools of thought.being a little bit of a believer myself in the phenomenon of break in:rolleyes:(at least initial few hours),was wondering if there are any downloadable files for the same.can i use the pink noise generator and test tones from burninwave??its used for earphone driver burn in(accordin to the author),but me thinks it should be usable for speakers as well.opinions??cheers

Hi,

Buddy you can use Pinknoise and Whitenoise to burn-in a speaker or electronics :)! Be bit cautious when using whitenoise though !

The burninwave can also be used, you may have to fiddle with the volume though (as either they'll be low to suit the headphones or loud to burn the headphones real quick ) !

Alternatively you may buy a Burn-in disc and just use that instead of worring bout which type of noise to use etc..

There are few specialised discs but the major ones are "ISOTEK System conditioning Disc"

Another one is, "XLO Test & Burn-In CD"

Since you are in the US currently ( going by what you've posted in the other thread ) its very very easy to procure one :eek:hyeah: !

Both these CD's not have the necessary Burn-in track but also has the Demagnatise signal (for demagnatising the system from years of usage) and has a frequency sweep etc etc ,So I'd say this is the best option ! in case you are buying the CD please get me a copy of ISOTEK :p Shall gladly pay for it ;)!!

Regards.

Best burn in option is to use a variety of music a bit lower than normal listening on continuous playback - DVDP or CDP with looping is best for this. I used to do this when going away for the weekend or evenings or during day for office and it easily hit the 100-150 hours within a week. You can change the genre of music once a day for ensure the various frequencies are touched upon.

Soundsgreat, I don't mind at all but I think you've got me mixed up with someone else. Me and AVMax? No connection at all.

My 2 cents worth:

Create your own .wav file with 10min of Pinknoise + 1min of Silence + 20-20000 Hz frequency sweep + 1min of Silence + heavyDrums + 1min of Silence

Individual files for all of these are available at: Burn-in wave files: white noise, pink noise, frequency sweep, channel mix

Worked great for me. Hope it will be good for you too.

keith, thanks for that input.was thinkin on similar lines.btw what setup do u have and how long did u continuously use the looping sequence for?entire mfr suggested time frame for break in or less?cheers

Initially I looped it for 12 hours before I did any serious listening. Then whenever I remembered to - I left it on loop for no specified time frame. I suggest that you do the same - or else you will be doing just burn-in's without enjoying your system. Happy listening!

got my mission m35i on the 10th and have been using noise files for their burn in.created my own sequence of the same from downloaded files(burninwave.com).thunderstorm+church hall+frequency sweep+heavy drums+pink noise+silence, and keep it on loop.i play this from my laptop-ipod cable-amp-speakers.usual routine since 25+hrs of playtime is noise file mix for 2hrs at system wake up followed by music(genre by genre) for the rest of the day.am sure it helps in the acceleration of the burn in process as the speakers have started to sound absolutely great, and i suppose can only get better!!!cheers
