Pioneer SP-FS52-LR vs Yamaha NS-8390.

Well speakers switches seem to cost at least 5k.Any one here on the forum make speaker switches on order?

Just Going on DIY way for Speaker Switch. I Completed it yesterday, today i will be testing it in evening. It has 2 Inputs (Speaker Out From Amplifiers to this switch) & Single Output (To Speakers). The Switch selected rating is 15 Amp (I think it will be more than enough for this job)

When the switch position is in Center it will be off, when the position is on top Amp 1 will be online & when the position is down Amp 2 will Online.

Total Cost : Rs. 2,000/- Approx (I have used all high quality gold plated connectors & wire is made in taiwan, this wire is specially used in speakers)

Which one would you folks prefer? Need to strictly keep it to these two models. Also, any specific reasons to choose one over the other? Any inputs would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

For me I would stay away from both, I owned the pioneer for a brief period of 5 odd months and found them to be incapable speakers which only incite the need to upgrade because of their gross incompetence. It would not be a surprise if yamaha performed similarly.
If I were you I would scout for some used options. There are many good deals on the for sale section also time to time, so give it time have patience and the result will be fruitful.

Honestly I have never tried any AVR except the VSX 524 in Pioneers lineup which sits at the lower mid range. So I cannot comment on the other Pioneer AVRs. The 524 sounded good for movies but its definitely not for music. I mean if you're some one who is new to the HiFi world then you will surely like it but if you have Marantz, Yamaha or Denon to compare with then Pioneer doesnt stand a chance (the low range). This is just my personal opinion.

Although I have heard the higher range AVRs (800 series and above) from Pioneer are very good and competes very well with the competition.

Again I would like to say here, for purely music listening purpose stereo amps are the best and for movies AVRs. But if you want something which can deliver both, go with Marantz. A little expensive than others but worth the money.

Pioneer SP-FS52 can be compared with other brands like Yamaha NS-F160 or Onkyo SKF-4800 or Polk T50/TSx330 series, which are almost on the same line when compared to config & price too.

Pioneer SP-FS52 are well designed spks, you have to pair it up with right receiver to get maximum out of it. It has got clean/detailed sounds with tight bass response. As its back ported spks ensure you have some distance betwn wall & the spks. No distortion on high volumes, however haven't gone to the max vol as i stay in apartment

If your unable to get hold of Pioneer, i strongly recommend you should audition Yamaha NS-F160 these are excellent & VFM :thumbsup: That was my backup plan if i wouldn't have got Pioneer.

Which amp and what will be the usage, Stereo or HT? The pioneer is a very popular model and a very good one. It can really shine if you have a powerful amp. No idea about the Yamaha. Here is a review I found googling - YAMAHA NS-F160

Are these the only speaker options you have? My vote would be for the Pioneer. I am not too aware of the other one. What you can also do with that receiver is to Bi Amp the speaker if yours is a 5.1 setup. The additional rear surround speaker out can be assigned to front channel too along with the regular Front speaker out.

Just want to understand why you say that the Pioneer FS-52 are incapable - In what sense? I'm planning a 5.0 setup with Andrew Jones speakers for my use-case of gaming + movies.
Given that it is not possible to audition them in the current lockdown situation, would appreciate any inputs.

I have used Pioneer FS52 for almost 4years now & those are really good speakers when paired with Marantz or Denon Amps/receivers. However do audition Polk Audio Signature S50 / S55 (Priced at 35K) & Yamaha NS F160 too. Again sound stage is very subjective from people to people, do audition speaker & see which suits best as per your taste of listening before buying

With floor standing speakers, placement is important. It goes for all, but as stand Mount speakers can be used with a separate subwoofer, it gives more flexibility for placement. Hence some end up with different experiences. Room is half the equation in getting good sound, besides the gear.

Yes, it’s should be sufficient.... I had paired AJ FS52 with Marantz PM6005 in past those were 45w per channel on paper.... didn’t had any problems driving these speakers.
