Is your US Dealer also a dealer for M2Tech ?

I believe that regardless of however high end one's system is or how many digits it costs, there is no substitute to listening in one's own room and system, a luxury that unfortunately, does not exist for us in Hyderabad.

Totally Agree:clapping::clapping::clapping:

Why not make a trip to Chennai and listen to the PBD at the dealer... or make a trip to Mumbai, and listen to a TON of stuff with FMs.... Will be a Cheaper trip than to the USA ;)

Hi Amp_Nut/IndianEars. I believe we met before, when I lived in Pune, about 4 years ago. I bought a Wadia 170i from you.
Cheers,
Sid

GREAT to know, Sid !

Its a Small World !

Do you still write reviews for the Hi Fi E-zines ?

No he is not, however he is a dyed in the wool audiophile and we used to meet, not as his customer but at an Audio society that I was a member of - not unlike -HFV, where we would exchange ideas, listen to equipment etc. And because he is a dealer he has a wealth of knowledge on most of the higher end stuff which he heas easy access to and computer audio is something he is getting into . I heard the Harbeth Shl5 for the first time in a demo. that he invited me for.
BTW the Indian dealer for PBD based in Coimbatore does not have a PBD3 for Demo. He suggested a trip to Mumbai. Anyway IMHO a trip to Singapore would be better if one has to travel as lot of equipment is available under one roof. I travel to US every year for business so audio is something I indulge in when I am there in my spare time.

Sid

I was also considering this DAC. The Analog DAC.
Possibly the best form factor ever seen in a DAC.
It is now available in India, but one has to travel to Surat! for an audition.
Cheers,
Sid

Can any PBD owner mention how much better the unit sounds with the add on UB-X box ($2K) for normal red book 16/44.1 playback, as compared to the USB1 input at the back of the player?
I have assumed that there is a significant lift in performance and thus there is then no need to get Off -Ramps.

Just recieved this mailer from Audire. Great opportunity to hear the Magico Q3 and the PBD ...

Dear Sir,

We would like to cordially invite you to a live demonstration of our high end audio brands at the AV Max Expo, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Okhla, New Delhi.

At the show we will be presenting two demo rooms. Room 1 will feature the Magico Q3 speaker system with Devialet D-Premier source and amplification. Room 2 will feature the Ascendo C8 speaker system with Ayre/Belles amplification and the Playback Designs MPS3 DAC/CD Player, playing red book material and DSD.

RSVP!

Sincerely,

Hi Sidvee

There's a Burmester belt drive cd player 001 for sale on Audiogon. Its a cd player cum dac cum pre. Its a nice piece. Very analog sounding. There's always something magical about a belt drive cd player. I had always wanted a CEC belt drive transport but could never afford it.

Thanks Prem,
I was in touch with CEC HK recently, inquring about their transports. Their entry level model was priced decently at USD $2k but they do not want to ship. Only pick up at HK. Anyways I plan to look into this once I get my DAC all sorted out. Want to have a relatively modestly priced transport on hand for ocassional Cd listening and the CEC fits the bill perfectly.
Cheers,
Sid

@Nikhil, off topic, but do audire deal with Belles amplifiers ?

I haven't really checked their lineup recently but Staxxx has already replied to your query.
See here for more Audire : High End Audio, Video and Automation

I was in touch with Sharath some years ago when I was interested in some of their gear so I still continue to be on their mailing list. I'm pretty sure I can't afford whatever they sell these days (Magico, Dartzeel, Playback Designs etc)

Sidvee, IMHO one of the better VFM transports is the Softone. transport only will come to close to USD 1500 shipped via EMS.
the sound is comparable to the Northstar transport but has the signature sound of the CDMPro2 ..not as detailed/incisive as the Esoteric

Thanks Arj - Not heard of this one. Only thing by the time customs gets done with it, it will probably be closer to $2k:sad:
Cheers,
Sid

I definitely find my Esoteric (K-03) detailed, but surprisingly not very incisive (in the aggressive sense). In fact almost rather on the warm side. Maybe I have to take another listen.....it's been a while since I have been using the music server almost exclusively.

Hi Staxxx i did not mean it in a negative way. I do love the Esoteric transport sound, it is able to bring out the smallest nuances very clearly unlike the Pro2 which while brings it out , is more "broad" than incisive
