Hi dignified members,

Greetings for the day...

This is S.Sampath Raj Rao, recently joined as a member in the
group. I am a lover of music as I love listening to musical waves
dancings and spreading in my live room floating from one side to the
other.

Being visually challenged I am unable to access this forum and
thereby I have requested my friend prasaad95 to post this message on
behalf of me to the forum. My apologies for such an act of mine...

I had built a 3 way bass reflect stereo speaker system a couple
of years back with no proper calculations of box size as I went for
ready cabins available at shops. You can view more about this speaker
system at my project

Now I like to build one professionally to enjoy a decent music with
better bass out the the same drivers.

My drivers didnt come with much details such as VAS, Q value,
FS, frequency resonance, and so on.
The available info about my drivers are :

Woofer:
6 inch diameter, Impedence: 4 ohms, 30 W RMS, 50 W Max., frequency
response: 42hz - 9000hz, SPL at w1m1 : 92db, magnet : 90*17*36,
weight: 1.2kg,
brand: YP,model: 630F.

Mid : 3 inch paper cone speaker, rated at 5 watts and tweeter of dome
rated at 20 W RMS and max of 200W , resistance : 4 ohms.

My Queries:
  1. Is there any way of finding the missing parameters for my woofers?
  2. Is there a thumb rule for box volume? for which dimensions can be calculated based on golden ratio 0.6:1:1.6.
  3. In a site I found that box volume of 0.24 _ 0.35 cu ft can be recommended for woofers of 6 inch, is it recommendable as a thumb rule.
  4. I am a lover of bass, so how should I tune my cut off frequencies for my 3-way cross-over system? can I have the cut off to be at 160-5120 or 320 - 5120 or what else?

My query might be silly to this group please excuse...

I request members also to try replying me at my mail id at
[email protected] as I feel the forum being much difficult
to access with my screen reader.

There are to methods to determine Thiele/Small parameters of a driver. It is too long to be explained here. So I suggest you do a google search and have a look at the procedure.

The box volume depends on the Vas of the driver. You will get Vas when you calculate the parameters of the driver.

Crossover points again depend on how high the woofer can go and how low the midrange can go. Depends on the drivers.

Do a lot of reading, there is enough stuff on the internet. Good luck.
