Hello Everyone,

I am a newbie to this forum.
I have Triangle Elara LN05A HiFi Speakers in my living room, and I like these speakers. Now I want to build bookshelf speakers for my home office setup to listen to music while working. I want to build these speakers myself. I have a good idea about building the amplifier; however, I am stuck with driver selection (I am not sure which drivers are good and availability in India) and cross-over circuits.

Is there anyone from Bengaluru who can help me choose drivers and cross-over circuits? Also, I need my design checked and some suggestions, as this is my first DIY project.

Thanks in advance.
Praveen.

If this is a one-off project look for proven designs where the schematics for such are already available online from various speaker designers. You can scour for projects based on your requirements on DiyAudio.com. There are also independent speaker builders on the internet who have made their designs available for free. Look for designs with Peerless, SB Acoustics, Faital etc. as these are easily available in India.

Plentiful questions need answering before you even get to driver selection.
If you intend to learn speaker building begin by reading Speaker Building 201 by Ray Alden.
Paul Carmody is a great resource to help you get started, read through all of the material on his website.

Do you have a specific speaker design in mind that you want built?

If not check out this kit. https://audiofy.in/collections/speaker-kits

Before going about buying drivers or some kits, I would suggest that you think about the following things.
This will give you some insights about what kind of speakers (and hence drivers and crossover topology and components) you want to get/build next since you already have a pair of active floor-standing speakers.

1) What is it that you miss with your current speakers? Looks/sound quality or is it just the DIY speaker bug?
2) What is the intended listening situation (how far away will you be from the speakers for listening? desktop use?, 2m away, 3m+ away?)
3) What intended SPL levels would you need (Start with soft background levels, loud levels, party levels?)
4) What kind of room will the speakers be placed in (living room? what dimensions? the amount of furnishing in the room, odd geometries w.r.t speaker placement etc)
5) Most importantly, what is the overall budget that you can allocate on this speaker (if diying, this has to be appropriately spent on cabinet building, driver cost, crossover component cost etc)

The answers to above questions will help you think and finalize on a speaker size/category/concept and then shorten your search whether it is a published DIY speaker kit or developing a speaker from scratch. To develop a good speaker from scratch, which offers something extra for your intended use case compared to what is available in the market takes quite a bit of effort, time, and knowledge. Hence it is all the more important that you think along these lines first.

I just saw this part.
If it is a small, low-cost, diyable speaker that you need, in addition to the options mentioned above, here are a few:
1) https://sites.google.com/view/sehlin-sound-solutions/speaker-home (look at the mini-speakers and bookshelf speakers)
2) https://www.mtg-designs.com/diy-speaker-plans (Look at the AlTi speaker). I like it because it has been designed very thoroughly, and takes care of some important aspects, including power compression and directivity (which means this speaker can be played a little bit loud as well without much issues)
3) For a single small full range driver project, some designs are available here (Based on Mark audio drivers): https://frugal-phile.com/boxes-markaudio.html

There are many such sites.
