Use headphones for better judgement. I used my company headphones on my laptop and scored 3. I used apple ear pods and scored 6. I think it should make difference.

How do you hear 8bit audio on PC?Most of sound card do not support it.If I try to play 8 bit in foobar,I get error message.The tracks in the link are played easily.how?

Yes, I dont have 8bit on my laptop as well. Are they same?

that is because of aliasing , few PC are prone to this.

Haven't tried this one yet, but audiocheck.net is a great site for testing our ears, our equipment and our environment. If you visit at all, be prepared to spend an hour or two there! At least!

I have scored 5, but do not think the test was appropriate as the played track have not enough acoustic elements to judge the difference, and for my taste, such track is kind of noise.

What is the bitrate of the clips played? I think both sounds too bad already (just heard on laptop). How someone can differentiate with a poor quality music?

Still haven't tried this. I've done my own experiments with reducing the bit depth of music until I can hear a difference, and I can cut it a long way! It is surprising!

Does it help or hinder if one likes/dislikes the sample piece? It would be good if one could submit a few seconds of one's own sample. There are plugins to reduce bit rate, but, of course, then it's not blind.

Are you sure you can keep reducing the bit rate?
I thought it can be either 24 or 16 or 8 only and nothing in between.

I think the plugin is called decimator. Will post if I find it.
