I have a MK1 Pro-ject Genie. Not played vinyl for a while, but when i played it yesterday, it sounded heavy, with too much base and not enough treble. I tried changing the settings on the pre-amp and stil no change. Tried another record slight change but nothing signifcant. Now, i have never set the force tracking gauge since removing from the box, brand new 5 years ago, could this be the problem or do i need to upgrade the audio interconnects (QED i believe).

Turntable is connected to a Rotel 850c pre-amp and mono blocked using a pair of Rotel 850b power amps to run my Tannoy Definitions. I have a MArantz cd6004 which sounds absolutely beautiful and want the turntable to sound as good or thereabouts.

Does your TT have VTA settings? Hey just a noob question coz am not a TT expert, but it could be something to do with incorrect VTA setting, my gut feel

:)

Pls check the cart specified weight & adjust the weight settings on the tonearm weight attached. Then listen & see if things improve.
