Projector calibration

Easiest way is to get help from a professional with the calibration. Next best option is to get calibration discs like Spears & Munsil or Disney WoW, with which you can do calibration on your own.

Easiest way to setup your projector is believing your own eyes..
Even somebody setup for you initially, you may not like it later.. Its better to learn and make adjustment when ever you want..

Here are some steps

1.Project the Full size rectangular with border (Red , Green or Blue) and with some text (as in the picture below). You can get the 16:9 ratio /or 4:3 ratio image from internet based on your screen ratio.

2. Setup the Size:
There will be position ,tilt setting in your projector --> Do the adjustment until you get the perfect rectangular shape of your whole image.
The rectangular should blend correctly with your screen border.

2. Adjust sharpness: with the same image with text, turn your your Lens right/left , until you see the sharp image and Text.

3.Next Project some Color Image with Text . Preferably with Some movie poster.. Avenger poster is best as it covers up all colors, shadows , lights.

4. Image settings --> Change it according to your taste (beleive your own eyes) . ( Set the contrast level only 60 -> max 70% , that will be good for your eyes ..and good for projector life :)) .
Change contrast /brightness settings as you can see the picture clearly without irritation. (setting too much contrast may irritate your eyes).
You may need to adjust gamma also based on your projector black level. Check all the image details can be viewed correctly without too much black or too much white on any part of the image. Adjust gamma settings (note: setting too much gamma setting will create a fade effect while watching movies). Adjust + or - 2 points max for gamma.

5. Some projector may have setting for smooth movement of frames . Next play some movies from blue ray ,and check for fast action-- check any freezing affect , or slow movement is there , then adjust this setting as well.

Hope it helps.

Can anyone help me calibrate my projector

There are handful of youtube videos on basic adjustment.. brightness, contrast you can do it via videos..try those..

For basic colour calibration (or) one slide to adjust all, you can run a picture on the projector and try to adjust it.. Google search for images SMPTE colour bars..
