Projector Issues

Cute looking baby you have got there vinay. Welcome to the proud Epson owners club. Looking forward to a initial review (another review after you burn some light in your projector)

Enjoy with your kiddo.

I hooked up my 8350 this morning. Right out of the box the PQ was awesome (of-course I am upgrading from 720p to 1080p)and what was most impressive was brightness. Even in diffused daylight with curtains drawn the picture was very watchable. Fan noise level was also very low. Also of interest to Vinay I did not notice any anomalies that were described on the net - yet - so I have my fingers crossed.
Cheers
Sid

Sid,

If i compare the looks of my old and new projector, sure the new one has a much better personality, but is bulky.

Well thank you very much for telling me how to take the screen shots, of which i will do so in due course. In the meantime you can post some shots.

Venkatcr
,

Actually i have not been having bath for a week, but i was changing the dress daily and brushing my teeth.

Well there are people who get angry with me for my so much of interest toward movies and the forum.

If we take a poll from ladies of the house, they will say that we should not be allowed to post more then thrice a week and we must not watch the threads for more then 15 minutes a day, and the number of movies should be restricted.

In these 4 years, there was as good as never a occasion when i did not watch something or the other for 5 days a week, so imagine what was life without the projector, that too for about 45 days.

Ukjeyaraj,

Well all babies are good in the start, let's see how it will be in the long run. I think you gave a good title "Epson Owners Cub", there should be a new thread by such name.

Hi vinay

Joined the party late and spent pretty half hour going thru the thread from start.
Was misleaded by the title.
U shud try a hand at writing thrillers.

I may travel the same route albeit not via syw.

One of the member via private message had an query about my import of projector, so i will reply at the thread itself so that others can also view as they may have similar questions.

The Question Was:

Congrats on your new Epson purchase - I would like to get your opinion on SYW's handling of the issue. What could you have done had something been broken or scratched when you opened it?

The Answer Is:

In initial stages the way SYW handled my order was not good, the details of which can be seen on this thread therefore it was leading to suspect. In the later days they handled the order in a very good way in all respects and i salute them for this.

If they continue in such brilliant way, they can go places in their career of online stores.

My recommendation is that follow a strong risk management, only one member should order at any given time, if he receives the goods in full satisfaction, then only the other member should order

Further if one wants to follow a more better risk management, then one should order first only a less expensive item.

For sake of moral responsibility to fellow forum members, who ever orders, should update on this forum, in every step, so that we get to see the live movement of the order in question, and needless to say that during these times we can add our suggestions too which will help a lot to the member.

I was advised by SYW that if there is any big fault with the projector which can not be handled here, then within 15 days i have to report them on this and they will arrange the pick up of projector and send it to the seller, and ask for replacement. For doing this marathon cycle, there will be no charges to me.

I have received the projector in well packed condition as per photo's in post # 295, needless to say with no scratches whatsoever. I had taken my precautions with the delivery based on advice by the crew of this thread. The moment courier guy came, i put my hand on his shoulder, offered him a cold drink, gave him Rs.200/- as tip, showed him my mini theatre and then i requested him that please do me a special favor that be here till i finish taking all the photo's.

hi

this was a VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION.

who will bear the cost if consignment is damaged ??????

I was always in favor of BORDERLINX and all my emotiva stuff came thru them.

But just now i did a ONLINE chat with support and they straight away said they DONT bear any damages or give support for refund.

At least SYW, has agreed to get the product exchanged in 15 days if major problem is there.

Vinay, why no comments yet on performance of projector? Has the projector been connected yet? If not, why the delay?

Sidvee,

The picture quality difference is better by about 10%. I too have moved on from 720P to 1080P, are you seeing a better picture of more then 10% from 720 to 1080? If yes, then i have do some settings etc? Please advice.

I still have to try watching a movie with in-direct yellow lights. I generally prefer to see movies in 100% dark room with foot lights because more darker the room, better the picture quality and focus environment.

About the fan noise when i compare with my old projector, it is around 50% less which is very good, but generally the noise does not matter because when the movie is on, we can never hear the noise of fan and moreover the projector is hooked on the ceiling, so all the more noise can not travel to our ears.

I too have not noticed any problem with the function of projector. If there is no issue even after watching 50 movies, we are quite safe.

,

The title earlier was "Projector Bulb" and is now "Projector Issues", with such a new umbrella title by moderator, it can take all aspects of a projector.

I would love to write a in-direct thriller related to day trading of stock market, but i need the big push, can we work on this? Please help.

I think you should seriously consider via SYW, unless you have a better plan.

You need to play 1080p content to know the difference. Are you doing that? Most of the movies you have maybe 720p.

For best best performance connect to Blu-ray Player playing 1080p content.

Also Vinay are there any FHD screens that are available or any screen can suit 1080p?

Vinay, i feel its time to download, some blue ray rips and test them out, personally i would recommend the Avatar and Cars. I have both of them takes up 92 gig of my storage space.

exactly Vinay ,to know the real difference in PQ ,u need to test with uncompressed 1080P content ,the best way is to connect to BDP and spin a BD

epson home cinema 8350 projector - SYW

Spidey,

I was told by SYW, that generally when they buy via amazon, the seller has to guarantee in replacing the goods if they are not found in order, such warranty is applicable for 1 month.

If such a adverse does happen, then we have to actually see if the cycle works or no of the replacement, as we know that people do back out at times for what had agreed upon.

Santhosh,

I had requested 2 members for helping me to install the new projector but they were busy. I tried to install myself, and was surprised, that i was able to do it within no time.

I am lucky that there were no issues about the hdmi cable or voltage. Frankly speaking i was expecting a host of problems during the installation.

This new projector does not fit in the lift, there is a scope that i will have to use the projector rod, i am thinking to import it, please advice if this is a good idea and if yes, then should i import some other accessories like the filter cloth etc?

I am happy with the picture quality in terms of sharpness and crisp while on start up the logo which we get of "Epson", is dynamic looking, we can shut down right away, with the other one i had to wait 3 minutes.

Re: Syw

When I was dealing with my import of projector I asked BnH about it and they told me that their shipment is insured and any loss or damage of the shipment will be taken care by BnH and thats what convinced me to get stuff from them.
The benefit of dealing with BnH india is purely of getting the shipping safe and post sales.

Hope this helps.

Hi

I dont want to critisize Vinay's choice or the projector.

mind you, Epson 8350 is the projector of the year on ProjectorCentral.com and is ahead of PT4000.

But still, I feel PT4000 should recieve first choice and better still if somebody is willing to wait and has big bucks, the 2011 upcoming succesor to Pana PT4000 to be released( nobody knows when).

I myself am going for Epson.

One query, does Epson support anamorphic lens ? any idea of cost?

Does Pana 4000 come with inbuilt 2.35:1 support??
