Hello Guys,
I will be buying a new dlp projector this week and have a question about storage. For me all projectors are used for work only for certain presentation events. The rest of the time they will sleep thats it. The usage will be like just 12 to 15 times in a year for about 6 hrs each time. This is extreme sparse usage and my previous optoma hd 70 has only done about 200 hours in 3 years. I bought it for 85k and today its ready to be scraped. Because the entire lens has got a fungus like white cotton spores grown on the inside of the lens.
Optomas tie up service centre says they will TRY to clean it. Replacement lens they dont know, how much it will cost, or if they can even get it. HORRIBLE Service from Optoma. Dont burn your fingers.
So this time ill have to be very careful with storage. I want to know if i can pack the projector into a Vacuum Bag. The ones which have a vacuum cleaner suction valve. I thought ill drop a sachet of silica gel into the vacuum bag before sealing the projector into it. It keeps it moisture free and dust free. Plus due to the transparency it allows light to pass in. All of which are moisture deterents.
Plz let me know what you feel.
Thanks
