I have quads at home, and would love similar sound signature from the car speakers.

Few of the speakers that I have heard sound too harsh in the higher mids and highs (ear piercing and deafening). Perhaps they cater to the indian taste of Dhin-chak, but I prefer deep smooth midrange. Bass should be tight and perceptible, not boom-boom.

Which brands should I look for?
Which of these will be available in Pune?

From how you've described the sound signature, you will most likely like how Rainbow speakers sound. I wouldn't say they are warm sounding (in the under-40K range), but they are definitely not bright or harsh or fatiguing. They are detailed enough without being harsh. The range (2-way components) starts at about 11-12K.

The Indian Distributors (BBW) are having a flat 20% off sale on their entire catalog right now (Founder's Day Discount). They also have higher discount (upto 32% in some cases on combinations of kit). They are based in New Delhi, but if you call them (09810017130) they might be able to direct you to somebody in Pune who sell and install Rainbow. Also, I think (not sure) the 20% discount might be applicable only if you buy from them directly. I'm not sure how long the sale is going to last either.

If you are on Facebook, you can check them out here: http://www.facebook.com/BBWDist

You might also like to browse the ICE section on gearheads.in for more info.

People buy cars these days based on what sound systems are packed in it ...

Maybe its time for you to look at some of the JLR lineup ... ;)

Brit sound in abundance ...

LOL, you never know - in this age of globalization JLR may be using Bose speakers (which in turn may source their components from "ChIndia")!

Alha 1,
Head to Poona Motors on East Street, They have a Demo room on the first floor. Listen to various options and take your pick
East street is pretty close to me, I think I have seen this Poona Motors - its on the slant road between MG & East?
Completely OT: Is this the same alpha1 from a well-known guitar player's forum?:)
Yes Nathman! Though not a well know guitar player :p
How is your GAS these days?

Bentley uses naim. Go get that :P.

Just kidding. Why don't you look for dynaudio components. They sound very very similar to their stereo speakers. Basically the same driver optimized for off axis peformance.

Hi Alpha1,

Did you finalize / install ICE ? If yes, Which speakers did you buy ? Where did you got it installed ? I am also in the market for some good comps for my i10. Your requirements match with mine as am also interested in warm sound signature. I took a demo at Reliance Autozone last week for following speakers;
JBL, Infinity, Pioneer, Sony & Alpine. They were hooked to Pioneer HU and JBL Amp. Amp improved the performance drastically.

I rejected all except Infinity Reference series (they did not have Kappa for demo). Found Infinity pretty close to delivering warm sound and was comparatively warmer than the rest. I am also interested in demo for Rockford Fosgate, Rainbow, Hertz, Kicker & Ground Zero. I am not sure where I can demo all these.

If you are looking for a full-range TL speakers for your cars then you can PM me. Nothing available commercially can provide you with the signature that you are looking for.
