Hi,

Yesterday, after setting up my PJ and other things, my denon would not pass video through HDMI but only the audio. What could have happened??

When I play blu-ray, etc., I could hear only the audio, but could not see the video.

I think I just lost some valuable stuff of mine!

Cheers!

Re: Denon 1910 - Gone kaput!!! Pls Help

Is this a new unit?

This could be a handshaking issue between the AVR and the TV. Hopefully it is just a setting issue which, if you fiddle with it, may be able to correct.

Cheers

Re: Denon 1910 - Gone kaput!!! Pls Help

Hi Venkat sir,

THe unit is around 6 months old. I have tried all HDMI inputs and various sources, but HDMI ports would not work. However, the component and other ports work fine.

Also, the AVR seems to recognize the input given in the HDMI port, but it does not output, so I think there is something wrong with the output port of the unit.

I have explored all the options and setup, but in vain! I thought I am just done with my dream setup, but it is a big no now:sad:

Cheers!

Sorry venkatesh for the Denon issue:sad:... Hope it will be OK soon to enjoy your dream setup:licklips:

Re: Denon 1910 - Gone kaput!!! Pls Help

i am sure you already have, but just to be sure, you've checked / swapped the cables?

Hi,

Yeah, at least I have 5 HDMI cables, I have done everything possible I can, but nothing seems to solve the issue.

The only solace is that the video through component cable out is working.

Cheers!

Sorry to hear that Venkat. I don't want to scare you, but I faced the similar issue with my denon 1610 and I tried all the above said options nothing worked. Finally called the dealer(Vector Systems), they sent an engineer even he couldn't figured it out.Dealer agreed to replace it. After much discussion finally picked 1910 paying the difference amount. This is one good thing in buying equipment with bill and warranty.
My advice is take the unit to the dealer and explain him the problem. Its easier way to solve.

Thanks
Satya

Re: Denon 1910 - Gone kaput!!! Pls Help

Is that due to PAL/NTSC issue?
Check settings, even if a certain link (HDMI control link) is activated in between TV & Denon, then turn it off.

Re: Denon 1910 - Gone kaput!!! Pls Help

By any chance, are you switching on Denon 1910 before the source? If yes, try to start the video source first, let it run for for a few seconds and then switch on the Denon..

I have observed this is my Yamaha 661. it works fine with the DVD player, but, with Tatasky, if the signal is not present when I switch on the receiver, it gives me only the sound.. I need to switch off / on the receiver once to get the video...

Hi,

Thank you Srini sir, Spirovious, idelbrain and Govindp. I have tried all sources and techniques, still will try more, but as of now nothing seems all right and but still my AVR does HD audio, but not video. I have thought about an option of using a HDMI splitter at the sources, one HDMI out to the AVR to do the HD audio and other out to the video.:) This is going to be my strategy for now, as I dont want to go for another AVR so soon. I want denon to work more for the bucks (24K) I spent on her:ohyeah:.

Cheers!

Your situation is not that bad if you ask me. You are getting HD audio and your goal is to get 720p display. Since your projector is 720p, you have nothing to worry about. A high quality component cable will easily do 720p or even 1080i. A component cable is technically capable of doing 1080p, but there are some HDCP regulations which prevent it from doing so.

Here is an article that may give you some relief:

Hi,

Thank you, Santhosh. Yes, at least I am left with this option, I can let the AVR do the audio and directly connect the source to the PJ or LCD.

I am already start to think about getting another AVR though!

Cheers!

HI Hemant,

Firmware upgrade seems to be not available for this model, I guess. I should try out the factory reset, but dont know how!

Will try googling it!

Thanks for your suggestions Hemant.

Cheers!

Hi,

Just did the factory reset by pressing surround buttons while powering on the AVR. the problem still remains the same!

Cheers!

Hi Venkatesh,
are you sure that you source set up is ok. I mean to say in your blu ray player have you checked if the HDMI video output option is enabled. I need to do that in my Cambridge audio 540DV2 dvd player first connecting it through composite cable otherwise I don't get any HDMI output.
just a thought .
Thanks.

Hi,

Checked that as well, no difference. I think the HDMI monitor out port has a problem!

Re: Denon 1910 - Gone kaput!!! Pls Help

My 2 cents - Why don't you take it to Torvin & ask them to troubleshoot it for you? For all you know maybe it is a minor problem that can be solved by a skilled technician. I'm giving you this solution as from your price, i infer that you got it from the US & therefore have no India warranty. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Arvind
