regarding receivers?

dear friends,
i have a question regarding receivers?
i would like to know that will the receivers send signals to the tv when the avr's are in stand by mode? like budget avr's denon 1311, 1611 and onkyo htr 260, htr 508, htr 608. because i was thinking to go for any one in the list above.
why i asked is, if we are not using the avr all the time, (to save on the electric bills) will it pass through the signal to the tv when in stand by, well it will be connected by hdmi off course. i dont want to change it every time.

Yes if they have hdmi passthru in standby mode they will. I am sure on 608 and 508 models....Even most of the new denons 1311,1611 series shld support but better check .....Onkyos I have tested on my 608.

Sorry, AFAIK, the Denons do not pass through signals in standby mode. I have not seen the 1311, the 1911 nor the 2311 doing that. I am not sure about the 1611.

I have seen the Yamaha 667 doing that. I am not sure about Onkyo. At least the 875 I have does not.

Hey, one thing just occurred to me. Maybe we have to set the AVR to be in pass through mode for the pass through to work. That may be worth experimenting with.

In yamaha rx-v667 you have to set the HDMI pass through in stand by. It is off by default.

My Denon 1611 does not pass thru' signal when in standy by mode. And I dont find any option for "enabling" the same.

Go for 608 it sure works I can vouch for that.

Alternatively you can take the TV optical out and connect to AVR so when you dont want AVR sound you can turn it off enjoy TV volume alone.
