My 4 year old 5021's gone bust.

I even spent 800 bucks to get the IC repaired, but it has died after 2 days. So i am looking for a replacement. Any suggestions.

I have in mind the Klipsch 2.1, Swan M50W, Edifier 530 or SwanM20W.

Used for movies and music. Something that will surpass or be as good as the lansing.

Swan m50w will surpass altec in music dept only. but not in movie.

I find Klipsch Promedia Should be your Ideal Choice as it is musical as reviews suggest and VFM. further, it has enough bass for movies and for music if you like bass in your music.

You have no idea what you are talking about when you wrote this line Swan m50w will surpass altec in music dept only. but not in movie. Swan M50W's sub is more powerful than the MX-5021 and goes deeper than it's sub with more authority. In international forums, Swan M50W considered to be the best speaker for movies at this budget. Our own forum member has bought this speaker system for movies purpose only and claimed that it's sub is better than the Polk Audio Sub which itself cost as much as complete swan speaker set-up.

Thanks for the responses guys ! How to the swans compare with each other the Swan m20W and the SwanM50W. On paper it just seems that the M50s have much bigger sub, the satellites differ on by 3W RMS and neither more than the 20W rms of the Altec. Has anyone heard both of them ?

no brainer it has to be the awans...

a bigger sub will be able to deliver deeper bass... probably..

whats the budget ??

If you are planning to give away or sell your 5021 do let me know. Have a friend who is looking for some equipment.

Thanks for the inputs everyone. I have still not given up on the 5021, searching for a replacement made me realize what i had was really good !

Auditioned the Edifier C3 and its not good compared to the 5021. The build quality also does not seem to be that nice. So i am kinda forgetting about Edifier altogether.

This time the Transformer has conked on the 5021 and i have given it for rewinding. Hope it gets fixed. However, i still want to buy another pair of speakers and will use the repaired 5021 as standby or fix them in another room.

The budget is 15k and for the price i can easily get the Klipch 2.1 and the Swan M20w. Swan M50w is 17K and i can extend to that as well if i have too. The bass in my Altecs was more than enough for me and i kept it at 3 of the max 5 possible. Taking that into consideration i think Swan M20w can do the trick, but i do not want to spend 12 K and then feel if it would have been so much better if i put in another 5 and got the M50W they are so much better. So if someone can really comment comparing the two Swans that will be good.

Thanks Sarith for sharing the link, i am leaning towards the Swans at this point in time. The room that i will put these in is 12 * 15.

This review also points out -

Also, I have also listened to Swan M10 which just costs Rs8600 or so. It is nearly the same as the M50W in terms of sound except with less quantity of bass and not as powerful bass but bass which is tighter. And it doesn't play as loud but still loud enough for a small to small/med room. Honestly, if bass isn't a priority and nor is the volume, then I would take M10 over M50W any day as they are nearly equally good. Even M10 has more forward and audible mids compared to AE5. For the price I say they are better than AE2 I guess which cost nearly twice as much. I haven't heard AE2 though and I am sure they have their merits as well.

So this makes me think if M20W will be enough. For the love of God i cannot seem to find anyone that has compared the m20W with M50W.:sad:

Some people complain of overheating issues of the M20W amp in their reviews. To me it seems people will buy the M10w or simply pass it up for M50W. No one is interested in the M20W

:licklips:Okay people, i have figured out what the f$%k the issue is with M20W. So my advice to anyone going for Swan 2.1 will be M10W and M50W, i am myself going to buy the M50W !

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
