Hello all,

My friend is returning to india from US , wishes to buy a HT - AVR, Speakers. He is moving stuffs through transfer of residence by means of a container.

His budget was $1500 for AVR and Speakers. His preference was 50% music and 50% movies. He recently bought a 55" samsung and already had a S370 of sony.

We auditioned couple of AVRs - Denon 2311 , Denon 1911 , Yamaha A800 , Yamaha A1000 and Energy speakers ( CF-50+CC10+Energy SW, Surrounds ) in bestbuy. This set of energy speakers were tad costly and final cost came to $2500.

We didn't consider Onkyo for failure rates ( little , but he didn't want risk ).

For both of us Yamaha was very punchy comparing Denon. In the meanwhile, we found some bundles in electronicsexpo at following link with Denon 2311 / Yamaha A800 / A1000 with energy speakers ( compact tower CF-30 , CC-5). I searched though online, got good reviews for energy.

1. Can we go for this bundle offer to get Denon or Yamaha package ?
2. Does Denon or Yamaha Aventage has good service in india as he may not have warranty options since buying in US?
3. Any other speaker + AVR combination for $1500 ? He can stretch upto $1700 for a really good one,( but he almost fainted in bestbuy for $2500 package) ?
4. Any other suggestions are welcome for my friend. I dont have much of experience with HT , so i researched for him ...

For speaker cables, I would go for bluejeans as I am satisfied for my RCA from them... HDMI - We are considering Amazon basics for $30 ..

Sorry for such a long post , Any help is much appreciated.

I suggest that you go by the audition route if possible. TTBOMK, Denon and Onkyo as well as Sony and some other brands all offer decent after sales. All these brands have their entry level and premium ranges/labels, go for the very best that you can afford.

Thanks George. We will be going to Best Buy / any other dealers nearby for audition.

Any other inputs on Denon 2311 Vs Yamaha Aventage A1000 ? It would be helpful if you guys have any inputs on speaker packages within $1000.

Energy speaker prices has gone up. You also missed great discounts on RC series. RC30 were sold for $199 each. When i bought my RC50 for $270 each (now $770 each), CF were sold for $130 each. Probably you could wait for some time and watch prices go down.

Yes..we indeed missed RC series speakers. The CF-30 is a low budget one ( along with rest of them ). Question is , Will it be a good match for Denon 2311 or Yamaha A1000 AVRs.
