I am not sure if this is the correct place to put in my question🤔

Placement of rear speaker - Is it ideal to keep the rear speakers (rear left/rear right) at the rear wall (behind my sitting position) or side walls (just right and left side of my seating position (parallel to my ears).

At present, I kept the speakers on the side walls i.e. parallel to my ears and I can hear the music from both the speakers. But if I keep it behind me or raise the present position to 3/4 feet high (above my head level), how it will work?
If on the back wall, with sofa touching the wall, you should
  • Have it 1-1.5 feet above ear level
  • Angle then down so that the left points at right seat and right at left
Ideally left and right would work too, but same thing, take them a bit high and angle down.

Best workaround for such limitations is bipolar speakers on back wall

Drop them by at least 1.5 to 2 feet if possible , else it’s okay.

Dolby specs say ideally around 110 to 120 degrees. If the wall is that far back, just put it at the corners.
