Royal Stunner

FantabulousI am lost for words. Classic chic purposeful design from the stable. Will read through during the weekend.

I'd love to find a nice second hand pair of big Tannoy speakers one day..... mmmmmm

Staxxx,

we sail in same boat:yahoo:

What so ever reason Vintage Designs are more attractive to my eyes than the new Onces:(, the wood finishes, classy curves:ohyeah:

at $55,000 a pair, that's not too bad, eh? I will definitely get myself a Tannoy pair within the next 10 years, its on my wish list.

Hope these beauties sound as good as they look. Has anyone here heard them? How do the compare to modern speakers? Very curious! I came across a great deal on Tannoy Kingdom a few months ago. But wasn't sure if these speakers sound at par with modern ones. I have always dreamed of owning a Tannoy Kingdom. Alas, shipping and customs makes it all the more difficult to approach.

Looks like we can do a bulk import and save money on shipping :p

I don't think I could ever spend 55k usd on a speaker :P diminishing returns set in for my mind around 3500 USD =(

Cor,

I think your Sweet Jamo's prepared you for a cool nap. The Tannoy Kingdom Royals are $55,000 USD. not 55,000 INR

so as per today's rate

its around 30,03,000 ONLY:)

I would build a new home for this money at my home town:)

So even second hand would cost around 15 L, Else we shall purchase it once this beauties turn as "Vintage Era" for cheap might be after 15-20 years:yahoo:

The Glen Air 15 looks similar and am sure must be decent sounding for 1/10 th the price of the Kingdoms.......for that I am also willing provided I get another 3 years to save money for it.....

Pandit ji, I found a great deal in Shanghai. Tannoy Sterling (or was it Turnberry?) for a sum total of Rs 195,000. If I had any means to transport those cute monsters to India cheaply, I'd have snapped them up. Alas....

DIY guys ......... :p

Cybervinay is doing it. He has inspired me to do something similar. Monitor gold drivers are not very rare in second hand market. You just need to keep looking.

Monitor Gold and HPD are best drivers for DIYers. There are few high-end drivers that are as non-fussy with build as those.

^ I know ...... he also had a couple of Tannoy yummy drivers and in one case, even Tannoy cross-overs for sale ... thats why I mentioned DIY :)

Sweeet!!!!.. thats how they ll remain for me!!! ;) a goood looking pair of speakers in my dream.. :/ DIY may be.. but not now

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
