After having gone through "years" of desperately buying ' better (?) performing or priced ' equipment from abroad I have learn't some significant lessons.
1. The saying " Nothing eventually really matters " is quite true !
This is easier said than 'understood' ! Maybe we need to go through our
many needless experiences to really understand it !

Made very obvious when you 'look back' on the road you traveled and see the numerous expensive gadgets lying by the way side that just died too early or couldn't get fixed.
2. Murphy lives for ever ! He will also probably make sure your equipment will fail or give trouble the more you get attached to it ! If you can't fix it then you are condemned to Hell ......the unknown Repair person who could literally finish it off permanently. With all due respect to genuine good service people!
3. If you "miss" your chance to buy something nice today , the chance will come again and you will most likely get better equipment ! Basically there is no such thing as a missed chance ! A missed chance generates a new one later !
4. NOT buying a new electronic gadget is like buying "Peace" ! You don't realise it's there but you will find it's presence if you check your BP .....should be normal!.......maybe by checking your bank balance too !

5. If it's a 100 /110 volt unit , then one day someone will forget it and plug it directly into the mains ....could even be you ! You will realise the mistake just as you flip the power switch and before you get to turn off the mains 'super quick' you will hear a pop or sizzle and maybe see smoke and your heart lying on the floor ! That's when you need to sit down and have a single malt .....and remember item 1 and 2 !
6. What percent of your waking time in life have you used your hi-hi system ?
You will find it VERY VERY small. Taking that you are awake 50% of your life and you are not a musician but have your own hi-fi that you 'love', you will probably spend much less than 00.10 % of your total time listening to music in this life ! This must really be the SMALLEST bang for the buck that we can ever get ! AND you weren't forced into it ........you called the shots !
7. Check the percentage of money spent ( and lost !) on your equipment versus what you have spent on your music library . Chances are that most of it is skewed toward the equipment. Not because you want to but the "peer driven DRIVE " that makes you buy equipment often forgets that the music was really the most important part and sole reason for having the equipment in the first place. Try hard to balance that out. I'd say much over 50% for music but higher if possible. Say 80 % ? Today that's easily possible !

8. Often no one except you in your family 'really' bothers about your equipment. Some siblings do but not very often. It's your own private affair !
9. Hi-Fi is an addiction ! They should have de-addiction centers !

Not much different from Dope ! Gives you a high and costs a LOT of
money !

10. However if we keep things under control, it's a fun thing to do !
