Hi All,
I might get a good used data projector and that is why need expert advise

1)How good a data projector for HT?
2)To be precise basic data projector has Composite input and some has S video input so are there any good? I know Component out & HDMI are far better but how about these?
3)It has monitor input (VGA) is quality better than composite? Net is showing VGA to component conversion cables. Are these available here at good price? Are these better than composite? ( VGA input in projector- Componant out from DVD.
4)What should be minimum ANSI lumens for partially illuminated rooms?
5)Anyone is using a data projector for HT? How is the experience?
6)Which are the better brands? I am considering mainly serviceability & REPLACEMENT LAMP AVAILABALITY AND PRICE? Any experiences in Mumbai? How about Epson , NEC or Benq?
7)Is painted wall for projection ok? What is lowest priced screen material available? Where in Mumbai?
Sorry for too many questions but friends Im looking for honest answers.

Hi All,
I might get a good used data projector and that is why need expert advise

1)How good a data projector for HT? Its an SVGA or XGA, an xga gives better quality with dvd out of the two
2)To be precise basic data projector has Composite input and some has S video input so are there any good? I know Component out & HDMI are far better but how about these?S-video is also good
3)It has monitor input (VGA) is quality better than composite? Net is showing VGA to component conversion cables. Are these available here at good price? Are these better than composite? ( VGA input in projector- Componant out from DVD.Yes these are avialable below Rs1000/-, component is far better than composite
4)What should be minimum ANSI lumens for partially illuminated rooms?1600-2500Lumens will be fine
5)Anyone is using a data projector for HT? How is the experience?Only seen the demo for Benq MP 511+,has problem of visible pixels
6)Which are the better brands? I am considering mainly serviceability & REPLACEMENT LAMP AVAILABALITY AND PRICE? Any experiences in Mumbai? How about Epson , NEC or Benq?No experince in this aspect,as far as i know Benq/Epson provide onsite warranty
7)Is painted wall for projection ok? What is lowest priced screen material available? Where in Mumbai?yes there is some special paint available but its costly, an insta-lock screen can cost between 2.5K to 4K
Sorry for too many questions but friends Im looking for honest answers.

For a long time i have been playing with data projectors for movies. technically they also can do a 16:9 format DVD. but the image will be scaled down to fit into the 4:3 square much like a normal TV. movie pjs have a native 16:9 format that can achive a true movie like imagery that will appeal to a movie buff like me. data Pjs are however just fine as long as you need a makeshift HT.
Now for some serious stuff, generally the data pjs have higher lumens (>2000) which projects a vey bright image. hence the deep blacks in the movies look greyish. If you are technically oriented and have an eve for detail then the data Pjs will turn you off immediately. movie PJs however can produce deep blacks and whites. The data Pjs have visible pixels and you will see the grid unless you sit very far. Movie Pjs have more pixels and some kind of algorithm to have a smoother image.

My 2 cents :)
