Sonodyne, are they value for money at their current price?

Honestly speaking i wasn't able to find a better sounding speaker than the Sonodyne 2605 in that price. The only reason i didn't go for it at that time is because of dealer experience but i have heard it at friends' place and they sound like a million bucks. I feel they are the best value for money right now if you are looking at something for music and movies. @Krishnakanth_590, if i were you, i'd have gone for the 2605 without a second thought.

Thanks sash !!

I decided a month ago to buy Sonodyne set on hifimart, but I am waiting for some more cash to pile up  so that I can get all at once :yahoo:(AVR+FS+Center+Surrounds+Sub). Because, I am lazy to go all the way to the HiFi stores to buy each component.

And now .... Sonodyne hiked the prices  . That is what annoying me :indifferent14:

Let's not take it personal, I am sorry if it offended you... I really mean this when I say that the workmanship is poor. Can you post a photo of your grill backside?

Regarding speakers, there are many and you can search on this forum itself from people's buyer choices. How many I brought a Sonodyne thread do you see here recently?

I searched all over the web for three way floor standing speakers and found the following speakers:

1) Sonodyne Sonus 2605 (MRP: now 31k , then 29k  )
2) Polk Tsi 400 (MRP: 29k)
3) Wharfedale Obsidian 600 HCP (5.0 package)(Retail: 43k)
4) Jamo S606 HCS3 (5.0 package) (Retail: 46k)
5) Magnat Supreme 1000 (MRP 32K).

Pardon me if I missed any :)

wharfedale and kef increased their prices by almost 10 percent about a month or two back.

I dont see many people complaining about that.

But dont know the problem some of us have with Sonodyne. What is wrong if they increased their prices by 5 percent or so.

manufacturing costs, funding costs and row material costs might have gone up.

I think 2605 still remain the best floorstander at this price point.

What i dont like about sonodyne is poor marketing strategy for consumer products.

Can anyone pay for 1/4th of Jaguar and get a car which is as luxurious as a Jaguar. Simply No. We get what we pay for.

Agree and Disagree
Disagree:
there are certain products that carry a price tag for its brand. there are brands that provide you equal quality or better quality stuff but since they don't have a brand ppl hesitate to buy fearing its durability for yrs to come. So cheap product not necessarily a bad product.

Agree: To reach to that league where they can charge the premium, they have given quality product which has been passed the test of time. so the quality is assured.

well in case of jaguar I agree :) although have never been into one

Increasing the price is alright ...... but increasing the price of sonus 2605 by almost 3000 just at the time when i am planning to buy one pissed me :ohyeah:

I have been into one, which was displayed in Inorbit mall, here in Hyderabad. That day, I understood why people pay millions for such machines.

well I kind of regret not having sonodyne on my radar when I started off with my search for good speakers... or else I would have had a good stereo setup atleast a month or two back
Sonus 1501 Bookshelf speaker for 10k do we have anything sounding better @ this price
or sonus 2504 @ 20k.. I have seen a Yamaha speaker which was cheaper than this but to me it wasn't VFM deal

do let me know if we get good speakers @ the given price range. . will be good information

I am from kolkata and completely agree that there's no better sounding option except Sonodyne. The 1501, 2504, 2501 and the 2605 have no match at the current price point even with 5% hike. Waiting for durga puja sale to buy front n center spkrs

You may want to wait for few months, historically they come up with a 20 or 25% discount offer once a year.

That might be a good time to buy.

meanwhile keep a watch on second hand ones, you may get lucky.

Buy a pair of Sonodyne 1501, pair it with a good AVR, or better still a suitable amplifier, play some music that you love from a good source....listen for a couple of hours, be very critical and continue listening. Then compare the price that you paid for this setup, go out and audition some known good brands. Calculate the cost and then pass verdict on Sonodyne.

The best can always be bettered, always. There are far better speakers available than the Sonodyne offerings, but do keep in mind the price difference.

I just got few days late for no good reason in buying Sonodyne Sonus 2605 V3 + SiA 320 and, bloody hell, not only the prices went up, but the 10% discount was also gone

On hifimart the SONODYNE coupon stopped working, but yesterday it worked and I immediately placed my order :yahoo:

Congrats mate ! :clapping:
By the way, please share some pictures of the packaging, unboxing and the speakers itself, once you receive them ...... I always watch unboxing videos of the electronic gadget before I buy it. Sadly, for Sonodyne, I can't even find enough pictures online .

Very well said! Sonodyne is good VFM. Of course, if one can afford JW then no point discussing RC!

Hi all. I am from kolkata and my office is in mani square malln sonodyne has a listening room there which i keep visiting. Just found out today that the pre durga puja sale starts 20th September. Flat 20% discount if u give a non sonodyne item n flat 25% for sonodyne items given under exchange. I will be buying sonus 2504 fs on 21st if all goes well.

Is the discount only applicable for exchange? Isn't there any discount like the Republic Day discount of 26%?

Hi this is only applicable under exchange of old a/v equipment. I have a 10yr old micro hifi from Aiwa and a faulty Sony dvd player. I will give one of them away happily !

The republic day sale of 26% is in Jan when republic day comes !

Is it that any product, faulty or running, will do?

What is the cost of a pair of 1501 v3? I see they are listed for Rs. 12k+ in hifimart. Whether it is single or for pair?

They have clearly mentioned its price per pair

Sonodyne Sonus 1501 V3 Bookshelf Loudspeaker (price per pair)

From your signature i see that you have planned to get Sonodyne Sonus 2504 & Sonus C2401.. I think Sonus C2401 is discontinued model & replaced with Sonus C 2501...

When I enquired at the Sonodyne showroom at South City Mall, Kolkata about C2401, they said that 2401 is discontinued and the new one available is 2501 centre. However, both these centre speakers are available at hifimart now.

And I also think the showroom guys said that 2504 is also a discontinued model (but I don't exactly remember his statement now)

so if Sonus 2504 is discontinued, then may be they plan to bring Sonus 1615 (like Whrf diamond 9.5):ohyeah:

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
