Hey fellas,

I have an Onkyo NR609 AV receiver/amp without a 5.1 setup. Long story as to why, but with two little kids all the 5.1 wires don't make sense at this point.

Current setup:
Onkyo connected to Kef Q300 front speakers and centre speakers.
No subwoofer or rear speakers.
TataSky/Blu-ray/etc., connected to Onkyo via HDMI

The audio output isn't satisfactory. Not sure if its because I don't have a woofer, or the Kef front+centre aren't working well with the Onkyo NR609.

Does it make sense to connect a soundbar (or a similar setup) to the Onkyo for a 5.1/surround effect? Or any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Difficult for anyone to help you without specific information. With statements like "It isn't satisfactory" - You could get a thousand suggestions.

The Q300 are pretty good BS.

I have lived without a sub for 4 yrs ant let the BS/FS handle the low freq...

if you are not using the surrounds & sub, hope you have set them to "NO" in AVR speaker settings menu...
