ohh also forgot... went to sonodyne store too, the sales person was so arrogant no willing to show anything, and btw sonodyne sucks too, maybe its low on price but i'm willing to invest more on better speakers than sonodyne

I agree on the sonodyne completely. I visited the south city showroom and the sales guys said whether we were serious buyers or visiting just for project since we had paper in our hands to record audition feedbacks. He also said that in that case we should think of coming during after sales hours. HAd it not been for our sake to audition sonodyne we would have left immediately. Felt humiliated to some extent though. I showed him my business card to justify that I am not unemplyed and this is not for project. Later on he became busy with other customers and gave me the remote of the amp/BDP to handle myself, that was the best part I would say doing it myself. He prefers those kind of buyers (like I saw one during our demo) who came and listened to an ipod dock with speakers and left the showroom after some time buying a subwoofer and a soundbar .. could not connect the two.
However I must say that the guy is knowlegable about audio products and even drew things like sweet spot, speaker connection types of bose speakers, etc . No one is perfect right...


I believe mandark has already posted our sonodyne experiance of listening to Genie 1 and 3 and wa snot satisfactory for the price quoted.

Ohh just for record also auditioned Paradigm espirit v4 @ 20k with sub paradign pdr 12 and it sounded crap.

Did you get this at the Japonic store? I thought they have left the Paradigm dealership.

Yes in japonica, no they did'nt left paradigm dealership, only the sales guy got replaced so this one is more cooperative guy

Grt thread! one thing I want u all to do is quote the price also of all the combi u guys actually take demo of. I m also from Kolkata and would be interested in buying Onkyo 608/Yamaha 667 / Pioneer 1020 but for speakers I really like to try Klipsch quintet 3 with a Klipsch 10inch sub...

if u guys come across klipsch in kolkata kindly let me know the price and location of the dealer.

Where are you getting pioneer in kolkata??? also whats you preference ratio?? i have also not selected a receiver, my prefernce in 50:50 (may be 60:40 music:movie not sure lol..) i asked yamaha 667 i was quoted 42.5k, onkyo is out of question as its but harsh and better for movies only, pioneer i don't know but reviews sound ok and ebay.in i'm getting it for 32k, wbu?

I didnt find ne1 with pioneer in kol, would be doing from mumbai.

My ratio would be 60movies and docs 40 music (house parties )

Pioneer is btween 31-33k on these websites, warranty is an issue. still nothing confirmed on the same.

no i live in kolkata so not planning to get anything from other city, in ebay prioneer 1020 is available with 1 yr seller warranty fo 32k , still i think i'll stcik with yamaha for its musical qualities..let me know what price you get on other city and what you select.

i could'nt get to listen both receivers under same conditions, place and speakers, so couldn't really say which one sounded better, but as per the reviews and all everybody is saying to give a go for yamaha if music is higher preference. Yet i'm still finding a store where i can listen both under same roof which will truly show both receivers quality.

Perhaps this is the best informative thread from Calcutta I have ever come across in my 2 years of tenure with HFV. Thank you very much Saikat, Mandark,mkm,Subhadeep and all. Once SKS will reopen can try auditioning Wharf Movie Star series.And whenever you guys are so serious then should also try auditioning Q Acoustics once.Not sure if anybody in Kolkata can provide you an audition but can ask SKS once.Also there is somebody in this forum Mr. Mridul Goel who can arrange an audition for you on QA. I have heard most of the speakers you have mentions but QA is simply the best for movies.

as you are planning to visit them can to check something, please check if aviano 2 / 10.1 / 10.2 + wharf sub 150 , is better than 10.4 or dali fs without sub or its other way around, also please check the prices. thanks. I'm looking for the right combination, and i am also looking to stay out of fs as my room is small and if i add sub later bass may overpower the room

the product is exact replica of bose speakers and the price is 17.5k for the whole package.

My friend took the demo and he says, these speakers means serious business and are not jst cheap replicas.

any inputs from you guys? he took the demo in mumbai.
