Hi,

I am having Yamaha rxv 583. I am bit confused about speaker level settings. I do understand about the speakers distance but how to set the speakers level for 5.1 set up or is there any standard settings?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,
Jitendra

Are you trying it manually? Use the microphone and run YPAO setup. Manually tweaking is desirable after the auto calibration.

As tuff correctly mentioned, yamaha avr's come with yamaha's trademark YPAO calibration system. You should have received a small microphone in the avr box. Plug into the yamaha, and place it in the listening position, and go into speaker calibration settings and start YPAO. The yamaha will measure the distances and levels of all your speakers and set them up automatically. After the above is completed, just check the final YPAO results to make sure that the yamaha has got it right.

As already suggested please run YPAO. It will set the distances and speaker levels. I found the level setting by YPAO is fine except the center channel which was low setting. You can play a movie after YPAO and check. Tweak the levels if needed.
