speakers dont sound till 50% volume

RXV 663 with 8 ohm channel 95 w out put with MS Aviano 6 doesnt start producing sound till the volume is increased by 50%. does all recievers are same ? or am I missing any logic ? pls suggest.

Many times AVR need to be driven upto -10 levels which is more than half.
Even Yamaha avantage 3010 needed to reach -10 for good sound in average room.

if that was the case, what speakers produce sound at 10-20 % volume ? I dont understand the logic also behind this.

Hi,

Since you are using an AVR please check the Front speaker level set up normally it is 0 so you need to increase it so that your speakers get signal even at low volumes. Hope this works.

Check page 89 and also be informed on what they mean by reference level ( 0 is max and what you see is not 50% vol level but -db levels wrt reference level)

is it on mute? some amps lower the volume and not entirely cutoff the sound
