Hi Guys,

Recently I bought onkyo 5008, now I am looking for matching speakers. I am eyeing for polk RTi A9 and other peers for 5.2 setup. How's the performance of micropro 4000 subs.

Please give your suggestions.

Regards

Onkyo 5008 is a very powerful AVR but still its not sufficient to give full juice to Polk Rti A9 on its own, unless and untill you add an external power amp you will not do justice to those speakers.
If polk is your brand of choice then you should choose Polk Rti A7 instead combined with CSi A6 Center and FXi A6 Surrounds. Polk Micro Subs are good but for the price you could choose a SVS or HSU sub instead which will give you more bang for the buck.

Another speaker brand which you could look at is PSB and there you could run a Synchrony Two setup through this AVR. IF you choose PSB then the Speakers you should audition are:
PSB Synchrony Two Fronts, Synchrony Two Center and Synchrony S Surrounds with either a PSB Subseries 300 Subwoofer or a SVS / HSU Sub.
Another speaker set which will pair well with Onkyo will be PSB Imagine based setup.

Hi Ashish,

Thanks for the information. How about using both front channels in bridge mode, wouldn't it be sufficient for Rti A9. I kinda really like these speakers, these are really powerful and suits my ears :).

BTW what's the price I should pay for these speakers.

I would rather go for Rti A9, since I am impressed with it's clarity and performance.

Hmmm I need to audition these subs...

I told you this with my personal experience as I once had Onkyo NR 905 myself with POLK Rti A7 based setup and I was running RtiA7 in bi-amp mode with Onkyo, I was happy with the sound but still there was always scope for further improvement and I saw that when I used the Onkyo in Bridged Mono mode and connected the speakers but in this mode you can only run it as a 2 channel amplifier.
Also please be aware of the problem with Polk that their Tweeter blows up quite frequently when you really push them hard, this was one more reason for me to sell my entire gear as my tweeters blew twice.

I visited ProFX bangalore to audition Rti A9, but they didn't have it at store. Instead they asked me to listen Rti A7 that I didn't like much.

Oh Yeah apart from that ProFX guy was in big hurry :lol:, it was like he is doing me a favour. They told me that they would arrange Rti A9 this weekend, so let's see.

BTW I am also interested in auditioning PSB Image T6 based 5.1 setup. Do you guys know where in Bangalore I can find PSB speakers.

Regards

You should contact Akash of M/s. Final Touch as he will be able to help you out with demo of PSB speakers in Bangalore. Akash's mobile number is 9886056563

Finally I have auditioned PSB T6 and C5, they didn't have Image S surround speakers and Subseries 500 sub woofer though.

I started with listening to my own collection in direct mode, the details and clarity I found in T6 towers is superb compared to Polk. I have made my mind to pick up these speakers and will do it in a day or two.

Following is the price given for 5.1 setup.

T6 Tower's => 72K
C5 Centre => 23K
S Surround => 55K
Sub-series 500 => 144K

Does price sound's okay for these speakers? BTW I haven't audition Surround or Sub-Woofer yet.

For speaker wire's I have decided to use finolex 4 or 6 MMSq electrical power wire. My knowledge of Transmission Line prevents me from buying RS 2000/PM fancy wires for speaker connection.

Regards

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
