Recently we have purchased a big screen TV. TV is good but the sound output is pathetic. We had Creative E2400 with previous TV. It gave a good service and now is defunct. I scouted in the net. There are good review about Logitech Z 623 2.1 system, but the huge subwoofer would be difficult to accommodate near the TV. Should I go for a pair of Tower speakers. I have seen ad of Intex 13500, Mitashi 90FUR, and some Phillips.
Please advise.
I don't like soundbars. They are gimmicks.
Thanks in advance
Regards

Sorry for the incomplete post. My budget is around 10k and it is exclusively for TV. Any sensible brand will do. I prefer 2.1 or tower reason being space constraint.
Regards

If you can, audition F&D T-400X which is like 9K. There's also a good model from Edifier, can't remember the model no. You can also audition that.

Why not sound bar

Am going for a soundbar from Q Acoustics Media 4 , its a award winning product of the year from WhatHiFi magazine for 2015 . I dont think they are gimmicks, its for decent sound quality from TV with clear voice

I'd also suggest that you not write off Soundbars as gimmicks, especially when you plan to use them instead of a 2.1 system for the TV.

I listened to a few soundbar systems the last month. I wanted to separate my movie sound from my music setup, and I definitely didn't want any more speakers to be placed, or wires snaking across the room. I listened to quite few sets, right from 15K to 80K.

I actually bought two that I liked: a Yamaha YAS 105 (soundbar only; 25K) for my sister, and a Polk Surroundbar 9500BT (soundbar + wireless subwoofer system; 75K) for myself. The Yamaha YAS 105 is actually outstanding value for money, and I was very tempted to go for one of their their YSP Sound Projectors instead of the Polk 9500BT, but I didn't want to drop that much money on a movies only system. I don't regret that now, as the 9500BT gives an immersive virtual surround experience in my room (though not as good as the YSP), and the subwoofer in that system is very good.

The Q Acoustics M4 that senthildent mentioned above is also a very good soundbar in that range.

anitasudip, JBL has a soundbar + wireless subwoofer system at 15K, the SB150. It sounds good enough for the money and the convenience, to be considered over most 2.1 systems meant for use with computers. The Subwoofer of the JBL SB150 is slim and tall and you'll only need to manage a power cord, as the signal goes in wirelessly. I suggest that you try and listen to it if possible.

The JBL SB250 (again with a subwoofer) is also good, but in that range, I preferred a Yamaha YAS 105 by a large margin, even though it comes without a subwoofer (but has a subwoofer out for future expansion).

Please also consider how you will be giving output to the speakers from the TV. Most TVs these days don't have a 3.5mm or RCA analog outputs. They only have digital optical outputs. Most 2.1 systems will not take digital inputs. But most soundbars will have digital optical inputs (and analog inputs, of course).

In your budget, sound bars probably might do a better job. They are not completely useless. IF you have a small room/area soundbar could be a more efficient option. Most towers in that price range will be close to ridiculous, loud and obnoxious to put it simply.

For a 2.1 setup, check out the Thonet & Vander Grub around 7K, they are aesthetically pleasing and don't sound half as bad. There are plenty of options from Panasonic, Philips, Sony in your budget for 2.1 that would probably be way better than cheap towers.

if you don't want to shoot your budget over 10K, and if your TV has optical out, then add a DAC (1.5K) - FiiO D03K Optical to Stereo Audio Converter: Amazon.in: Electronics

Look for used basic stereo amplifier & old hi-fi speakers on OLX.. You may put together a very good system for 10K..

Sometime back, i was able to pick a stereo amplifier (kenwood) + Sony hi-fi speakers for 5.5K..

Look for wall mount capability of speakers, then you are done..
