Writing this post again as earlier one disappeared. I am looking for front Floor Standing speakers for Yamaha 581. I have auditioned Polk RTI 5, Jamo 526 and 628, Klipsch 82.

I am utterly confused about what to go for. Would appreciate if someone can share some information.

My primary use will be for music. Mainly Indian, classical and fusion. Would also be using the setup for movies.

ProFx also suggested Polk signature series but have not heard then yet.

Please help.

Hi

IMHO....Polk Signature series is not all that WOW...i would prefer the RTi series....

Jamo C series is more inclined towards the music genres you are targeting.....

You could also look at Taga speakers...(available on Hifimart.com and MZ Audio)

Look at
Wharfedale Diamond and Kef Q series, they match well with Yamaha.

You haven't mentioned a budget
You are based in Mumbai - which means you have option of listening to a WIDE range of speakers ...

Thanks for the inputs. I have a budget of around 50K for Front Speakers and overall budget of around 80K to 90K.

Hi,

I have audition Paradigm Monitor 9 with Yamaha RX-A681 they are more tonally balanced and good bass punch.Paradigm Monitor 7 is also good but not detailed compared to paradigm monitor 9.Also You can get audition of both easily in mumbai.

Also Polk RTi A5 are better on bass performance. But would recommend to get audition of RTi A7 to compare with Paradigm Monitor 9.

Best of luck

I was thinking of RTi 5 with a decent Sub to compensate for the bass what I would have otherwise got from RTi 7. Which Sub with match the speakers. The dealer from whom I got the Amp suggested Yamaha SW 315 Sub. Any other suggestions would be most welcomed.

There is very decent collection and accurate price information available on the following websites
http://htstore.in/
https://www.hifimart.com/
Product- PROFX (apply 10% discount on Pro FX prices)

You can quickly figure out which brands/models are within your budget

Then go read up reviews of those speakers - or even better, go listen to these speakers at their respective dealers in Mumbai
After your third or fourth speaker, you will have a good idea of what kind of sound you like and what doesn't work for you

Your doubts after those sessions would be much more focused and forum members will be able to answer much better - instead of the vague sounding "please advise which models I should buy"

You are looking to spend a hefty sum of money on an amp and floorstanders. Spend some time searching for the correct match, and it will be so much more rewarding :yahoo:

Finally took audition of all the FS Speakers I had in mind. Now the most confusing part begins. Which one to choose :-)

Following is my listening experience.

Polk RTi A5 - Well balanced sound (bit on brighter side, but I like it) in comparison to Polk Signature Series

Polk RTi A7 - Amazing bass but over powers mid range when listening to Indian fusion music. Compared them with Elac Debut F6. On few songs Elac were amazing in terms of Mid range and Vocals but they lack the low end. Polks had over powering base which muffled Mid range. (Not very happy with how Polks performed in comparison to smaller RTi A5).

Jamo 628 - I compared them with Klipsch RF 82. No doubt Klipsch were sounding amazing (but they come at a premium price :( and above my budget). Could not compare Jamo with Polks but if I remember the sound, I felt Jamo to be bit on warmer side.

Now the confusion:

The dealer told me that Polk RTi A5 has two sub woofers and does not have a mid range (The mids are produced with the help of Tweeters and Subs, is that true?) where as Polk's website says that the drivers do both the work Mid / Sub. Who to believe?

He recommended RTi A7 over A5 but I found the sound of A7 to be more bass heavy and over powering the Mid range which was not the case in A5. I auditioned A5 in proper Audio setup room where as A7 was out in open. Can that make the difference?

So did you finalise ?Very curious to know who won:D

The search continues. I tried a few more.

Dali Zensor 7. After reading lot of positive reviews on the forum I auditioned Dali. They were lovely and musical. They are one of the top contenders.

Mission - Auditioned them at MZ but they did not impress me much.

Also auditioned Tannoy 7.4. They were easy on ears but lacked the clarity what I was expecting. Mids were muffled on some songs and lacked refinement what I found in Dali.

Morel Solan - Auditioned them at MZ. Found them to be very melodious but lack of low end, means Sub is a must. Also could not find many reviews about this online.

Paradigm Monitor - Lovely bass but lack the clarity what Zensor had. Dali beats them hands down.

Have got couple of more suggestions which I need to Audition

Wharfs Diamond 230
Revel M 8
Jamo C series (Has any one auditioned them?)

Currently I am sold on to Dali Zensor 7 and Polk RTi A5

I would have bought Polks but apparently they are not available in Mumbai or probably no one wants to sell them :)

Hi bill1182

Depending on which amp/avr you will use for the speakers, try to audition with the same...

the Wharfedale 230s are nice and end of the day, it all boils down to what are your preferences.....sound quality, budget, appearance etc.

If you are regardless going to use a sub...no point buying Hi End towers....

I use the Polk RTiA1s along with a sub...sub is a 12 inch which can go low upto 24hz...This is good enough for movies / music / gaming.....

Cinebels at Bandra sell Jamos check with them.

Visit MZ Audio to check for Tagas and other brands...meet Sayyed...

All the best.

As a Dali Zensor 7 owner, good to see Dalis still have the same appeal [emoji1]

There are quite a few good names in your audition list

Maybe you can add one more
PSB Imagine X1T

They are rated very well across sources, and cost about INR10k more than the Zensor 7 in price
I missed hearing them when I was buying
Would love to hear a comparison [emoji2]

Best of luck for your search

My Receiver is Yamaha RX V581. How is your experience with Dali Zensor 7? Also please share if there are any after sales service issues.

Will add PSB to my list.

I had to penned down my original buying experience and few follow up comments on this thread here

Overall, super happy with the Zensors
Never needed any after sales.

With the Denon X1000, there was an irritating issue where the AVR would remain stuck in headphone mode, when I disconnected the headphone
(Denon service took it for a week. Did a deep clean essentially - and charged me 1000 for it, apart from house visit charges. To avoid the issue again, I stopped connecting the headphones)

I moved to Hong Kong last year, and the only things I shipped from Mumbai apart from clothes/books/kitchen was my Speakers/AVR and HTPC/server system [emoji1]

Hi,
I have RTI A7 and your observation is somewhat right..sometime the bass over powers the Mid.. if you are Mid lover..RTI A5 and sub should be good..You can turn off sub when you dont want bass... And yes..try listening RTI a7 and RTI A5 in same room. I suggest, for Indian classical, go with Monitor 9. But bass will not be as good as RTI A7.

Will take second round of Polks soon and compare. In any case was going to do that before I finalise between Polk and Dali.

Today gonna Audition following if possible
Wharfs Diamond 230
Jamo C95
Klipsch Rp28

Let's see who takes the charts.

Auditioned Following at Cinebels Mumbai

Jamo C97 - Overall a very good sound stage. I would say, the sound was much on the Warmer side when compared to Klipsch or even Jamo 626. Highs, Mids and Bass were clear and sound stage was very nice. The price for these speakers is on the higher side i.e. 107000. Compared them with Klipsch RP260. Found Jamo to be much easy on ears as compared to Klipsch. For the kind of music I listen, Klipch was too harsh (No Office, this is my opinion).

Jamo C95 - When compared to C97 the clarity is compromised. Mids and Lows were not very clear and I could feel a lot of overlapping of sound. With strong vocals, the bass was getting compromised, which was not the case with C97. After listening to C95, felt that 3 way speaker was winning over the 2 way sibling. (Not sure if this would imply to Dali and Polk. Any suggestions?)
