Hi,

Link to the first Stereophile recomended components list from 1963.

Recommended Components #1 | Stereophile.com

I agree 100% with the comment below about the linked article.

Hell, the 124, SME Arm, Marantz pre and power amps, mac tuner and a set of A7 VOT is still CLASS A.

Would still groove to that setup.

Happy Holidays!

Hi,

Thanks for the link Santhosh.

A related topic(vintage cartridges) on Audiogon.

AudiogoN Forums: The sound of SPU

I find myself in agreement with the comments made by a poster on that thread. Though the comments are related to cartridges it is applicable to most modern audio products(amps, speakers, etc).

Too many modern cartridges over-resolve the music presentation anyway, biased to separation of events and instruments that you never hear acoustically in any live situation. So I don't fault SPU for not doing something that's unnatural.

SPU isn't the best cartridge bar none. That would be a difficult designation to make. It doesn't x-ray what's in the vinyl. But it is exceptionally lively, toneful, convincing and fun to listen to music through, and has no real rival in these characteristics.
