Dear experts,

Last year, i build couple of book shelf speakers and I feel that they sound okay as it was my first time DIY.

Later, With a plan of building a subwoofer, i purchased JBL CS1215 (Car sub) and then a 300 Watts plate amplifier from Parts-express shipped through ishopinternational.

Below is the link,

Code:
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=300-750

After reading through a number of articles, i feel that trying to use a car sub at home is not going to work.

Now, i have decided to sell the sub and buy something new. I couldn't find any subs which could be powered by the plate amp i purchased.

Can anyone suggest some good subs which are available in India under 10K?

My usage would be 80% music and 20% movies.

Below are the specs of JBL CS1215 if required,

well the driver favours a sealed box. Approx 60litre ID will give you an f3 of 40hz (which being sealed you can equalise)- so with room gain you could be flat to 20hz.

Ported is larger -- 80 litres ID tuned to 24hz. should give you a f3 of about 25hz. this is a more HT favoring alignment and it will go loud..

this is back of the envelope, but i recommend sealed. ported will not be "tight"

if you want to buy another driver, do you have a budget in mind?

Thanks for the reply. I dont want to use JBL.
I can spend around 10k for the driver.

a diy favourite at low cost is another car audio woofer - infinity 1260w.

home audio - i guess you can import; cannot comment on any of the locally available brands except seas, which would be out of your budget.

Do you know what is the approximate price of this driver? In the stores online, i could see them listed between 3500 till 7000

May be we need more posts to enable PM option. Am not sure how it works.

Can you upload it to a file sharing site and share the url here? I will download it. It will be helpful to other members as well.

Thanks,
