Hi,
I am rookie in the 'sound technology'. I am planning to lay down 40-60k for the home theatre system.I was using sony Hi-Fi MHC-GZR888D and planning for a new setup. I dont know if i should go for Home theatre in a box or buy av receivers + speakers.I checked the Sony Hi Fi component system HTDW5500 and it was ok. But i am not sure if its worth it or something better is available at that price. I have a Sony 32 inch LCD NX500 tv and PS3 as well. Please suggest suitable model. It can be a HTS or ur custom AV receiver + speaker or Hi Fi component system. I love music so its like 75 % music 25% movies. My main idea is to have a great surround coupled with superior music quality. Please don mind if i described anythin wrong.

There are almost no AV recievers/Amp's in the entry level/lower range which are musical, for that the budget will go too high.

Always better to have a separate stereo amp+cd player combination.

please Search forums for details.there are lot of threads for these and easy to find.

The OP has set aside a budget upto 60K. Currently he is using a Sony MHC system, which cost in the range of 10-20K. He wants to upgrade to a better sounding system.
I too was in the same boat about six months ago: A sony MHC-G10 system, a budget of 60-70K and the desire to own something that sounds better than the run-of-the-mill Sony audio systems.
I zeroed in on this 2.1 combo: Denon-1611 + Wharfedale 10.1 fronts + Wharf sub MX -10.1
I would suggest the same or similar systems...even if you want a 5.1 system but do not want to spend that much, you can go for a 2.1 right now (as I did) and, later upgrade by adding center & surrounds.
Believe me, such a system will sound much better than the Sony you own today, comments of other members about "musicality not upto the mark in such a low budget" notwithstanding.

Though I have nothing to add to help the OP but

when helping please see who you are helping and where they are coming from, some1 who was using a Sony setup, almost about anything from respectable audiophile brands would be more musical than his present setup

+1 to anurag's suggestion.....

I agree with Mandeep to get a seperate AVR and Speaker system. I auditioned my frnds Sony Home Theatre but it was no match to my Yamaha. Moreover you have a budget of 40-50K which is decent enuf to get a entry level System. You can go for Yamaha, Onkyo or Denon. Check out their outlets and audition systems.

Cheers..!!
