Hi Folks,

Need your suggestions, as I am planning to get a projector for my living room (Budget can be around 1.5 lakhs) in Chennai.
I don't think any short throws would fit within this range ( pricewise ), so medium and long throw projectors are the ones I am aligning to.

I recently came to know DLP projectors are better choices by projector snobs and 3LCD type Epson pjs are not preferred much by many. Is it true?
Benq 4k DLP projector has sharper picture because of higher pixel count and it comes ISF calibrated from the company, Epson has vibrant colour. Some may prefer vibrant colours(at times oversaturated like u see in oled tv's) over a sharper picture. Epson is not true 4k, DLP is closer to true 4k in 2L segment. Genuine 4k projectors are expensive. One should also take projector size and weight into consideration if doing overhead installation. Benq has some compact models.

In 2025, I would look for Laser, Optical zoom (MUST) and lens shift (highly recommended for non center installations), medium to long throw (UST only if you plan to use with super high quality screen as it is prone to hotspots and exaggerates the minute imperfections compared to the extremely forgiving nature of long / medium throw projectors). XGIMI Horizon Ultra or 20, Valerion Pro2 onwards, and Hisense Vidda C3 / C2. Do not look anything beyond this as I did super extensive search recently.

I would just look for valerian vision master pro 2 in 2026, nothing else. Only research would be to how to get it below the current selling price. To me, it has no competition under 4 lakhs and at 2.3 lakhs, it’s a no Brainer.
