Hello guys!!
We have purchased a new flat here in surat which has a dedicated home theatre room of size 19*13 feet with all the wiring concealed inside the walls, the flat is ready by now and we are planning to shift within 30-40 days, and the only thing i have to do is get the home theatre equipments and set it up, thus i needed you suggestions on this:

Budget : 9-10 lakhs
Things i am looking for(some i have even shortlisted):
Projector: (runco ls3, panasonic ptae-8000) - budget around 3.5-4 lakhs
Screen: Fixed only(8*10 or 8*12 size) - Budget 1 lakh.
Avr: (Marantz 7008 or denon 4313) - budget 1-1.5 lakh
Speakers : need Serious suggestions on this one, 5.1 or 7.1 setup- Budget 3 Lakhs, i have thought of getting some B&w speakers.
NAS Drive: Storage capacity 4-8 Tb's - Budget 50000
Apple Tv- 8000 Rs and will be connected to projector directly
TATA Sky Hd+ : best according to me.
Tv: Not needed in the dedicated home theatre room as i love projectors and want a fixed screen and also i have a 65 inch tv for my living room.
Cables: already concealed perfectly within walls so no need to spend a lot not this.

Guys please look at some of the above equipments i have short listed and comment on that and also suggest me any better equipments in your opinion looking at the budget for each category and guide me in setting up my new home theatre.

Projector, I believe you already picked up the best Pana AE8000 if I had that kind of money I would have bought the same. But I would probably spend some less on Projector and add an anamorphic lens with a CIH 2.35:1 screen

Screen 1L I believe is too much for just the screen. But if you can manage to get go for SMX curved screen ( as I said would probably save here as well and invest in anamorphic lens)

Keep some amount for seating as well. you can save on screen and spend on quality recliners, a raiser as well, I would also recommend Bass Shakers since you have that kind of cash.

Speakers :: I did not like B&W, but thats personal opinion, give an audition to Polk RTi series, AAD and QUAD. Go for 7.1 coz your room length is good enough

I dont see a bluray player. Add a decent BD player as well something like Oppo.

NAS Drive : Look no further than Synology 4 bay series 413+ or 413j

Apple TV :: I would probably go for DUNE HD (infact would omit BD player and opt for DUNE all in one solution)

TS+ HD is fine

Last but not the least, Logitech Harmony One or the likes .... to remote the entire HT.

For spekers u can audition Golden ear triton 3 series they are good and in compare with (in price) B&W 683 series.

I will be considering the anamorphic lens that you mentioned about.
Nice suggestion about the curved screen also but please tell me about some good brand to look for in projector screens.
Also I am planning for a Ps4 so won't be requiring a separate bluray player.
Synology 413 looks like a great NAS Drive. :clapping:
Recliners - i have a separate budget for it which is around 1.5 lakhs and also great suggestion about the bass shakers!!!

Also tell me whys so special about Dune Hd in comparison to apple tv, because i already have an apple tv and it serves great for iPhone and mac that i have. becuz Airplay rocks....:yahoo:

Hi sagarrungta,

With the kind of budget you have I guess it would be wise to contact some good Home Theatre dealers who specialise in setups and would definitely provide you some competitive options which you can consider...the key is not to reveal to them your actual budget ...so in your case you should state that you are ready to spend around 5-7 lacs for the whole setup....take quotes from different dealers and then decide...you can also seek our opinion / views too

He is one of the key hi end dealers from surat. We have interacted extensivly in Mumbai AV exhibition. Really Impressed with his knowledge.

Brands from his site

? ASR Audio Systeme Friedrich Schaefer
? Bel Canto
? MSB Technology

? Dune

Speakers

? Joseph Audio
? Heil AMT
? Tannoy
? Velodyne
? M & K

Projectors

? Projection Design

some of the dealers I found cand arrange or integrate many other brands

I feel that you should start with 7.5 to 8 Lacks with 1 to 2 lack for room preparation , 25 to 50 K for CONSULTANCY and open for new brands

Rerd read read and study - NEVER trust an expert 1000%...

With your kind of budget, please consider a pre-processor and power combination. Would be much potent than the range topping AVRs.

Or Pre Processor + Powered Speakers especially like Genelac with genelac Sub - professionally installed

If you are very much interested in 3d then go for Sony hw55 projector or Epson tw8200 . other wise jvc or runco much better projectors.
I would also recommend contacting Jignesh and getting his help. He is a very genuine person and true audiphile

SMX as I mentioed is pretty good..... apart from that, Da-Lite and Stewart are top of the line. There must be others as well, but these are the ones I am sure are top projector screens, getting them is the hard part

PS4 is good as BD player ....

DUNE HD is at another level when it comes to Network Media Players. (and expensive too) Apple TV is ok if you already have one, specially if you have apple devices. I am not an Apple guy. My entire house is on Android. :D so I might not be the correct person to comment :D

Few other aspects I would like to add (apart from accoustics that others have already recomended)

1. With such a high level expensive equipment I also recommend to have a power conditioner.

2. Also not sure about power supply at your location but still, get a 5KV online UPS (online is the keyword here) to provide that stable power supply (incase power goes down) you can then shut down your entire equipment properly

3. Automation, again since you have a decent budget get nice level of automation. I would be using Z-Wave as my prime protocol for automation. You can go for much extensive automation using the same.

with this kind of budget.. i think you are better off with sourcing your components from 1 dealer.

I second FM Hemantwaghe's suggestion on Jignesh from Surat. I visit surat often and have experienced his showroom and i think he will be able to deliver on your expectations.

He has a very professional demo room and am sure you may even end up saving something if you source from 1 place and the integration responsibility can be Jignesh's.

Do ensure that your money is well spent at the end of the day as the budget you mention is quite large. The equipment you intend to purchase must have enough usage to justify this kind of outlay.

Am sure you would have thought along those lines too.

At the end of the day want and need are 2 different things.

Good luck !!

For movies, do consider a THX Ultra 2 system. I feel you must go for M&K 150 or Jamo D600. They'll rock your world. Also go for Emotiva XPA-5 power amp - it is a must at this level.
You must spend some portion on acoustics - everything will go down the drain if acoustics is not taken care.

Hello sagar,

If you are still on a lookout for a projector and if you have a decent room size, I would suggest you a 3 Chip DLP Projector with High brightness(can be installed in the media or the living room too with moderately lit lights).

I have one on sale for USD11000 and its got a mind blowing picture quality. Let me know if you are interested.

Good choice, if you are not concerned about 3D (I think your TV is capable of 3D so you can watch occasional 3D movies there just in case) just consider Rohit's one. In case you need 3D, then compare Epson 8100 /8200 cause the black levels are superior to Panasonic though I use Panny.

Screen: Fixed only(8*10 or 8*12 size) - Budget 1 lakh.
This budget is too high and not required also if you are not contemplating on Da-lite. I can recommend you some good Indian brands like Liberty, who inturn supply imported only. I can get you a special pricing from them. So the saved amount can go for a better speaker package (which is going to be there for ever with you).

Avr: (Marantz 7008 or denon 4313) - budget 1-1.5 lakh
Consider Anthem MRX 510, People might think I am biased to Anthem but the path I have travelled makes me to fix on to it. More over where ever I had suggested and implemented it never let down and it proved to be right suggestion.

Speakers : need Serious suggestions on this one, 5.1 or 7.1 setup- Budget 3 Lakhs, i have thought of getting some B&w speakers.
I think you can shrink your budget where ever possible and pump in here. Cause these are the ones going to travel with you for long. For any HT setup 5.1 is more than enough. Incase your room is too long or with too many openings you can think about 7.1. I think your choice of B&W is the best.

NAS Drive: Storage capacity 4-8 Tb's - Budget 50000
If your planning to wirelessly stream through NAS, I am sorry it will not happen as it will not be seamless for file sizes above 4GB, wired NAS no problem. In the era of getting BDs very cheap 8TB is not required. Instead you can get disks itself, cause Soft copies are subject to get corruption. Do consider a Multimedia player like Popcorn hour or what ever.

Cables: already concealed perfectly within walls so no need to spend a lot not this.
This you have to re-think / evaluate as 14AWG oxy free good cable is better / more than enough for HT setup. In case your pre installed cable is not of this quality get it changed. You don't have to spend a fortune on this.

With regard to Room what we need is room treatment / correction and not full muffled acoustics, which might make the room into a dead sounding one and push you in to robust amplification. Reason being when ever I had contacted any so called acoustic people no one had any knowledge on Audio all they have done is simply taking the measurements (some measured it by eye sight.... my god blessed with laser measurement eyes) of the room walls and ceiling and suggested some colour scheme / design of fabric and submitted bombastic quote and I am for cock sure that if we had followed their quote we would have ended up in sound proofing and not acoustics / room correction. So this part needs more of your inputs and your taste level too. In this case Anthem's legendary ARC comes handy, The present ARC1 with MRX x10 series is more accurate than previous ones and it is similar to that of D2V processor.

Thanks.

Well I have a similar budget to yours. I have not researched a lot on projectors and avr yet. I have done a lot of reading on speakers.

Lsim 707 - 2.40 lakhs.
Kef Q700 - 93000
Kef Q500 - 70000

Jamo D600
Psb T6
Dali Ikon 7
Paradigm Monitor 11
Sonus 2605

B&W CM 8 - 2 lacs
B&W CM9 - 2.95 lacs
B&W CM10, B&W 683 and 684.

The ones which I have in my final shortlist are
B&W CM 8 and 9
Lsim 705
Rti A7
Ikon 7

For a budget like that you still want to stay with regular HT/stereo speakers? Why not get the same speakers that movie soundtrack are made on?

I am talking about MK Sound speakers. Read what a reference grade movie speaker should be like here: MK Sound | Why choose MK?
