Hi All,

I am planning to purchase Dune HD TV-101 which is available for 10k.

First of all let me know anyone has made this purchase and what are the reviews? Would it be a good buy?

Secondly, this media player do not have any optical/coaxial out. Just HDMI 1.3 and RCA out. In this scenario, would I be able to get 5.1 sound from my rips which have 5.1 audio when connected to my AVR Denon 1612 ( at present but soon purchasing Yamaha RX-V473)? Would this media player be able passthrough DD/DTS/Dolby Tru HD/dts-HDMA over hdmi connection to my AVR?

As per the info provided by the company website, it does decode all audio formats but no mention of 5.1 audio support.

I have seen very good reviews of the product hence I am going for the purchase if it meets my above requirements.

I request your immediate input on the same.

Dune HD TV 101 supports all latest audio formats including Dolby True HD and DTS HD MA through HDMI.

So does this mean it would give me 5.1 output when connected to my AVR when I play brrip with 5.1 audio?

How's the quality of the player?

It means that it can decode even 7.1 channel sound which is available in HD audio. So 5.1 output is invariably done. Dune players are one of best media players in the market.

Hi,

I have been quoted a price of Rs.11500/- for popcorn hour popboxV8 which is with bill and warranty of 1 year by local dealer.

Is it a good deal?

Took the audition of Dune HD & Popcorn popbox V8,almost same. Dune HD102 was not available with the dealer hence he quoted the price for popbox V8. I liked the player. Need suggestions now.

popcorn hour popboxV8 an Western Digital TV Live (2011) use same chip set Sigma 8671. The hardware capability same. popboxV8 has no inbuilt WiFi. you have to use separate WiFi dongle. The only plus point for popboxV8 is it supports DTS HD MA . By hardware WD TV live supports DTS HD MA. But there is some licensing issue with WD. But we can get WD TV Live for half the price of popboxV8

So in your opinion which one would be the best out of Popbox V8 and Dune HD TV101? I am zeroing on these 2 models. I have not seen WD TV Live being sold at 6K. If you have any such link then please do attach.

Dune HD TV101 also use the same chipset with some additional software features like bit-torrent client , net browser etc.. I bought WD TV live last year for Rs.6400. Reliance Digital is selling it for Rs.6900.

I have finally ordered Popbox V8 after taking it's demo. It wins hands down in picture quality & upscaling when compared to Dune HD & WD TV Live.

I am awaiting the delivery of the product within a week. Shall update with the reviews once I receive the product.

Thanks for hifivision and rajeeb who's is also the proud owner of the same product.

Also thanks for those who replied on my post.
