Hi All,

Looking for two sets of multi-channel power amplifier, to be paired with Denon AVR, tentatively X 3000 series (for my brother)..

- One set of multi-channel power amplifier to drive 4 ohms driver, DIY quad sealed passive subs in the room.. (preferably 4 channel amplifier)..

- One set of amplifier to power the speakers (At-least 5 (or) more channel amplifier)..

First priority is for 4 channel amplifier to drive the subs.. He would prefer to stay on the inexpensive (affordable) side and open to used as well..

I saw Marantz 5 & 7 channel amplifier on the net, and they seem to be capable of only 6 ohms.. Anyone owns these and approx prices..

Please suggest models and approximate prices..

How abt Pulz audio, Telome audio, Crown audio?..

Swing by Outlaw Audio website. If you can arrange for import, these amps are built like tanks.
Similar to Emotiva offerings. Pricing is reasonable for what they are capable of.
Unfortunately, they don't have a presence outside of the US.

FYI, I have been using Outlaw M2200s (2 nos) for about 5 years now.
No issues.

Cheers,
Raghu

Second the Outlaw, superb multichannel power amps, of you can source them.

Another is the vintage Kenwood KMX series. Raw 100 watt power per channel. Good for movies and not for music.
I have seen quite a few pop up in OLX.

Also look at ofcourse Marantz, NAD, Adcoms, Anthems, Arcams, ADA, Emotiva, Monoprice launched one recently, even Dayton has a multichannel amp.
If budget is not a great constrain, then there are some highend studio grade amps from Crown, RANE and more.

If your speakers are reasonably sensitive and listening space not that huge, then get any of the ready ti use chipset based amplifier boards. Many of these are stable up to 2 ohms, but with a bit higher THD.
For example three ALLO boards will cost you under 10k. These are efficient and get reasonable loud without distorting.

You will have to weigh in your requirements.

Since crowns are well regarded in our forum, why not look at their 4 ch options? Price wise also will be much cheaper than emotiva and other locally available foreign brands, other option is diy as per suggestions from the many expert fm's here who are making them. Plenty of options to consider for you, but am sure you are already doing your home work with them.
Whatever the final selection, please keep us all posted, thanks & good luck.

All the best!

If you can narrow down your budget, it would be easier to see what fits best. I second crown as a user and seems to be the go to amplifier for subs.

it has dsp crossover built in, high pass, band pass and low pass. No crossover needed.

Emotiva is the best multichannel power amplifier, but they are expensive ..
Crown -by harman/kardon is in the next line which is relatively cheaper, but they have mostly stereo amplifiers ..we need to stack & merge them to get multi channel.

You may check storm audio , samson ..etc.

Thx.. Priority is for 4 channel amplifier to drive the passive subs..

Yes.. Looking for a 4 channel..

Pulz Audio is good and even Telome....

Any models you would suggest from Pulz & Telome, also approx pricing..

Thx for the links on the used power amplifiers.. I did run thru them, Lexicon seems good.. But 85K for a used is fine, but to pay that much to somoen unknown , i would refrain from it.. Will speak to the owner of the ads and see what works..

Maximum of 50K for 4 channel amplifier..

Wattage requirement for subwoofer ?

Since it will be 4 sub-woofers, am not looking for very powerful ones.. 100 ~ 150 Watts at 4 Ohms should be fine..

we need to stack & merge them to get multi channel.

Thx.. Yes.. If i don't get hold of single 4 channel amp, stacking the two channel amp is the only option..

Will check them..

Do you need EQ settings on the amp ?
Btw that's a healthy budget .
Get qsc stereo amps or 4 channel amps.
Qsc gxd series. These are 4 channel amps.

What's the power rating of your subs

Sonodyne too has some power amplifiers in their PA range.. Need to browse the models though.. Surprised, no one brought this up..

Just came across this 8 - channel power amplifier from Sonodyne, per specs not so powerful, but should be a god choice to drive speakers..

Have you considered DIY amps? I keep seeing amps from FMs Aniket, Shaan, Sadik, etc. Maybe they can spin up something for your requirement.
