I'm trying to buy a friend a good present for his wedding. I'm deciding between the following 2 speakers -

I know they are both around 50k.

The room size is about 20x15ft. I will be pairing with an older onkyo SR506.

Any thoughts on which is better and why?

More importantly what are their warranties and where can they be purchased in delhi?

Many thanks!

Tannoy HTS101 is around 37-38K I think. It's a sub-sat package while Q-Acoustics 2000 consists of 4 bookshelf speakers and would be just enough for a 300 square feet room. Audition both and decide accordingly.

thanks Calvin. Seems like the qa's might be a better option for me, given room size.

any suggestions on where I might be able to purchase/audition them? Also any idea on how much they cost?

thanks!

I was given a quote of Rs. 61,000 for QA 2000. Not sure where you could audition them in Delhi.

Google gave me this: Gemini Traders - +91 9311155528.

The Q Acoustics 2000 cinema is very good in this budget for movies. Found them a bit lacking for music, but not bad by any account. Of course, if music is the primary interest you should go for bigger bookshelves or even better go for floorstanders.

The cinema package is around 57K in Bangalore without hard bargaining. I would expect another 3-4K cut if your bring up their early days subwoofer woes. ;)

Good luck! :)

The distributors for Tannoy in India, Acoustic Arts, are based in Delhi. If you can google them, hopefully you'll find a contact.

thanks guys, qa it is.

now I need to finalize dealer and price?

would an audition in Delhi be asking for too much?!

haha, thanks all :)
