Hi folks,
I have bought a new HD LCD and thought I will buy TS HD Plus, but it seems that the PVR is not available and the TS people say that they do not think it's going to be there for another 1/1.5 months.
Moreover, it seems that there will be a mad rush when the stocks come.
So, what am I supposed to do? Keep hearing that Airtel HD is a bad deal. Do you guys advise waiting?
Regards,
Shashank

It is very easily available in NCR.

Saw 8-10 pieces lying in Croma, Gurgaon yesterday.

BTW, they didn't have Tata Sky HD (non DVR Rs.2599).

Interesting, I called up TS and they said they are out of stock. Has anyone in Bangalore got pointers to where I can get it from.

Which Chroma in Gurgaon had the PVR?

You could also try Reliance Digital outlets.

Also, you could check at TS Experience Office at Jayanagar 9th block (its at the parallel road to Big Bazaar).

I have tried to book it last week, but they did not take the order as the stock is not available. They suggested me to try it out at dealer outlets, but indicated that stock will be available in few days.
Also, in case you are getting them through helpline/website, then you will get the 1 month Grand pack preview FREE. If you take it through dealer, the offer is not valid.
I think you should wait for the boxes to arrive, and not compromise on the long term experience. I suggest that you could continue with SD box for sometime.

No stock in Pai International, Bannerghata.
And as I said before, bookings are not being taken by the TS Call Centre.

Interestingly, I chanced upon a TS technician (the ones who do the installations) near my home and I told him that I need a TS HD+ box. He said that it is available and he would call me tomorrow.

So, lets see what happens tomorrow.

Could you also find out if you get the one month trial pack FREE if you buy it from him.

but i was just pushed by tata sky phone Representative to buy it with him through credit card and it will be installed in my home in 2 days!!!. Are they scamming people?

Could anyone let me know if it is possible to buy the HD+ DVR off the shelf from a store in NCR and get it installed in Lucknow? As I understand, its not available in Lucknow at this time.

Not a scam, stocks are available again. They've started taking the bookings from yesterday. 1 month free Grand pack + free installation was offered yesterday.

1) TS set-top boxes can be installed in a different place than from where it was bought but you can call n ask the CC to be sure
2) TS HD+ boxes are avail again @ 3999 with free month pack

Update.
I booked (and paid) my PVR on 6 May and I have still not got an installation done.
Tata Sky folks are informing that stocks are unavailable. (The distributor near Forum, Bangalore)
I have called the sales rep on Tata Sky, guy named Mohammad (who earlier committed to delivery within 3 days). I spoke with his supervisor, named Mansoor.
He will be calling me back in an hour to update me. Of course, I am furious with all this. If someone has phone numbers/ email addresses of relevant higher authorities I would like to escalate it to them.
If you have any other ideas, let me know.
And of course, before making any online booking, be careful. There are stock issues.
I have had the worst Tata Sky customer care issues in the recent past. I will update with the response I am expecting.

I booked on 3rd and they were eager to do the installation on 4th itself. Actually, I have delayed it myself by 4 days.Manufacture date on my box was showing Apr 2011. So, your case seems to be a genuine stock issue.
I guess this sudden burst of bookings was on expected lines.
In case you can't wait, you could try cancelling the order. They might then take up your case on priority. Also, try contacting Nodal officer, email is [email protected]
You might have received a SMS with some phone Number too?

Even when they had stocks in Feb, they took 5 days to install despite vigorous followups and escalation. Infact if I had booked online the FIRST day (10th Feb itself) and they never bothered to call back to take the payment before I escalated through CC. Buying through them is one of the worst experience and I agree on that. Wait till tomorrow and I will give escalation contact number of Bangalore (beyond nodal officers).

I booked a TATA SKY Hd+ box on their website on 6th and then I recd. a phone call from Tata Sky representative on 7th for making the payment for the same through my credit card over the telephone itself which I did and then the very next day a Tata Sky installer came over with the new box and installed it at my premises at Delhi whereas I wanted the same to use at my residence at Faridabad, so I asked the Installer to just give the box without activating it with my Delhi connection but he refused so I eventually had to add it as a multi room package and then took the box home to Faridabad, there I called up Tata Sky CC and they told me that I need to split my existing connection in Delhi to make this box work at my residence at Faridabad to which I said that just let me try and to my surprise the box worked as soon as I connected it to TV in place of my existing TATA SKY + Connection.
As already I have been running a 3+1 connection at my residence so I could either go in with a new connection as the upgrade options is not avaliable at present at Faridabad and NCR towns but here I am now running a +1 connection of my Delhi office at my residence at Faridabad which helped me in saving the subscription cost of atleast Rs.300 per month.

Update.
I mailed the nodal officer and the CCOO (chief customer care officer) yesterday with my grievance mentioned in post #14 and got a quick response from them.
They sent an engineer by the end of the day and I got the TS HD+ box installed.
So, even though there was a goof up, they have corrected it.
The only confusion which still prevails that I have not yet got the free Preview Pack activated and have been asked to pay an installation fee of Rs. 200.
I have mailed back. Will update.

I had some issue with installation fee which was pending for last 5 days. I got CCOO's email ID from shashaxe, and I got a quick resolution, along with refund of my non standard installation charges as good will gesture .
