Tata sky hd

Hi pals

this is babu from chennai

i got hold of a tata sky hd digicomp yesterday night, it will get activated within 48 hrs(thats waht i was promised). Ill let u know abt the pq as soon as it gets activated.

As far as the digi comp goes, it has the following connection at the rear side.

1 hdmi connection, component connection, composite connection, coaxial /spidf(audio), and left right for audio, 2 usb port, no optical connection.

As for as remote goes.

Its half the size of the old tata sky. Which i liked very much.
Its really compact cute and light weight , but easy to us.

(1) How is HD quality?
(2) How is SD quality? Have TS compromised here to make space for HD?
(3) What is the aspect ratio of the HD-content and the SD-content?
(4) What is the format of audio signals for HD and SD?
(5) And one technical question that may be answered in the some of the documentation: What is the transmission format: DVB or DVB-S2 or some other format?

I think one usb is for firmware upgrade etc. But I wont be suprised if we can connect an external hdd and play movies as well. Though, h.264, mkv playback might not be possible.

Do one thing, take a pendrive, put an avi file, and mkv and mp3 and mpeg2 file and check the usb ports please..

The USB slots are present in the older STB's too but have been disabled. In fact, the tata sky+ has a esata port which is also disabled.

Ha at last got my tata sky hd activated today

at present only 3 hd channels

ngc hd, discovery hd, showcase hd, belive me the picture quality is amazing

as far as sd is concerned there is quite a improvement in picture quality as well.

And as far as sound quality is concerned i have not connected a coaxial to my onkyo txsr 504, so cant comment on it as of now

but hey hd is wow!!!!!!!!!!

I am really happy with the picture quality.

I have not tested the usb ports ill get back to u guys later when i do.
