it was a finolex cable.

no charge for lnb, as far as cale goes up to 15 mts its free , above that it will cost u 20/mt that will be deducted from your ts account .

it looks amazing i wish i could watch a cricket match in hd, images apper to be bit smaller when cpmpared to sd .

as i am not interested in watching football.

absolutely - I had ordered for a TS+ which the CC promised to get delivered in 24 hours. Four days down the line the TS local engineer called to say that there were no STB in stock for TS+ and they didnt know when the stocks would arrive. I cancelled the order and have asked for a refund.
Now I dont mind waiting for the TS+ HD (with recording), when it comes in.
I guess this cancellation of TS+ was a right decision - what do you say friends?:yahoo:

Does anybody know the Audio format carried in the HDMI output from the Tata Sky HD STB (or for that matter the DishTv HD STB).. I want to know if the HDMI carries any audio at all or it has downmixed 2 channel audio or it carries the full 5.1 channel.. and if so is it LPCM or Bitstream (DTS, Dolby etc.)

BTW, GR Babu, you can try Kites the movie in HD as per their website. This is available as part of showcase. I think standard showcase movies will still be in SD

Hi,

The HD box has been activated today. HDMI cable,Component cable and analogue IC came with the box.If you have a HT receiver you have to buy a coaxial cable to get the 5.1 sound.

After the software finished downloading the box was ready.We played the ESPN HD channel first.The Slovakia VS Paraguay WC match was about to start.
And wow! The pictures were breathtaking.The colour combo on the channel was excellent.The red jerseys the players wearing were looking beautiful.The picture on all the three HD chanels are crystal clear.And yes Dolby Digital sound comes off all the HD channels.Its a treat to watch the NG and Discovery channels in 1080i and 5.1 sound.The Dolby sound off ESPN ie the sound from the football match gave a statdium like atmosphere.Guys with more high end HT than me can enjoy the sound still more.Hope they will add the Star Movies HD soon to the pack.I am sure watching movies in 1080i and 5.1 dolby sound movies off a TV channel will be a novelty.They have improved the interface also.Its more sleek and colourful.But the big Tataksy logo that appears when you try to surf the channels is an irritant.

Guys, only three chanels in HD may seem too little.But i bought this cause it was given in a very competitive price and the HD pack(including the channels that will be added down the line) will be free for one year.The only downside is when you switch to SD channels its a big let down. Guys who have already watched the HD pictures in a TV will know what i mean.

If you guys have any questions please go ahead and shoot.If they are not too technical i can try to answer them.

Ugh! I thought every one has a pretty low end HT like me.My mistake My receiver does not have HDMI.So a small correction.If your receiver is not HDMI ready you have to buy a coaxial.

Since the Tata Sky office is in my office complex i just went up there and paid the money on Thursday.I was told the the box woul be delivered on the same day but the installation will be only by Saturday.But the box was delivered only on friday and the connection was given only today.

No only ESPN HD has been added for now and no Star Sports HD yet.

Yes the customer care told me even the channels that will be added in the future will be free for one year for the existing customers.Yes i will keep the forum posted about any future HD channels.

if i read uh correct, he has got 3100 series HT, it will pass-thru audio when hdmi is used for audio. he will have to use coax to get 5.1 channel audio.

So if I get it right, the connectivity to enjoy true 5.1. surround alongwith HD one has to connect as follows

STB--->HDMI--->HD Tv (for video only)
and
STB---> optical/coax--->AVReceiver or HT --->Speakers

Since the audio is being put to the AV receiver, hence the sound of the Tv has to be put on mute so that tru 5.1 is heard thru the AVR (or HTIB with optical i/p)

If I understand correctly the Tv would typically have 2 channel speaker system so if I don't hook up the optical/coax I would not be hearing true 5.1 audio sound when listening the sound thru the Tv with HDMI in to the Tv.

do let me know, I am trying to research around a bit on how to hook up my old HT system to a HD STB and PS3 (which also has HDMI out)...

i've got the HD box, now waiting for them to land up and set it up. When I heard that ESPN HD had been added, there was no looking back. Let's hope they come tomorrow and not day after!

Hi arnab,
You have stated the correct way to connect the HD box to the TV and to the receiver that does not have HDMI port to get the video and the 5.1 sound,except that it has to be coaxial since optical out is not available in Tatsky HD.

The ESPN HD channel is true 1080i and not an upscaled one.The logo itself appears as ESPN HD. I also get the normal ESPN channel on the box and the difference between the soccer world cup pictures are chalk and cheese.

I can personally confirm, that there is no Dolby Diigtal 5.1 sound on 'Dish TruHD' for any of the HD channels. Whereas, Dolby Digital 5.1 sound for all HD channels on TataSKy HD is confirmed by 'srikarkav'

I cannot confirm, but I am quite sure that HDMI does have audio, whether it is the full 5.1 sound or downmixed to 2.0 I am not sure.

Hi,

Its surprising that Dish HD is not having 5.1 sound.I confirm the 5.1 sound again on the TS HD box as my receiver displays DOLBY DIGITAL whenever a HD channel comes on the TV.
