Hi Guys,

I have been offerred a Teac P480 turntable through a friend of mine. Kind of 20+ years old, belt drive. Will have to buy a preamp to connect to my Denon amp and Bose Acoustimass system.

Any views on the performance of Teac and specifically the P480? Any suggestions on the make / model of the preamp?

Appreciate feedback.

Thanks, Kishor

An honest opinion, stay away from Teac belt drives...these turntables are absolutely el-cheapo...my first owned turntable (used my dad's earlier) was a teac p988 and it was a good as junk....played everything well but just did not have the audiophile kick...it was also all plasticky....i moved on to a Technics SLBD20B which was much better...it is currently used by my brother and I have moved on to Technics SL3200 (which is the domestic version of the legendary Technics SL1200 DJ turntable)...also have my father's Garrard SP25 MK1 still in top running condition...
