Hello Friends,

Indeed, CDs are experiencing a surprising resurgence! While vinyl has been the star of the physical music format revival, CDs are catching up, driven by a mix of nostalgia and practicality. Interestingly, younger generations, particularly Gen Z, are embracing CDs for their affordability, portability, and unique sound quality. Specially, the limited pressing numbers are weight in gold.

It’s fascinating how physical formats continue to hold their charm in the digital age. Are you a fan of CDs, or do you prefer other formats like vinyl or streaming?

I cant believe this is happening!
Back in 2004, I gave away about 100+ Vinyl since that was out of usage and the day of the CD was in. I had to literally give them away- there were no takers.
Then about a year or two ago, I did the same with my large CD collection (a few hundreds) free to a fellow member from this forum! I threw in a suitcase full of DVDs too along with those. Streaming music had just become so much more convenient!
Now Vinyl is the rage. What I sold for 10 bucks is now 1000 a piece. And I had the choices whos who of Rock music.
And you are now saying CD is making a comeback!
Good grief!

I think CD is the NEW real estate :)

Old is gold: why I massively prefer buying old vinyl to new

My commiserations. As with life, so it is with hifi. There'll always be ebbs and flows as everything is cyclical. Nothing is permanent. Change is the only constant. Who knows...one day in the future some new earth-shattering technology will show up and render all physical audio media useless. Until then I'm clinging onto my LPs and CDs dearly.

CD's are being sold online for huge prices for a long time now . Its essentially used cd's and unsold stock . That will continue , I dont think here in India it will make a comeback , Streaming is the way forward . Vinyl fad will also not last for long . Eventually high prices will ensure that very few people are able to afford it and hence it will remain a very niche market .

My parents gave away their Vinyl Collection and I gave away my Cassette collection . But holding on to CD's for sure .

Buy from India's official online dealer!
