I have ordered a denon 1911 from global ebay for Rs.32772 :clapping:
Hopefully should reach me in 15 -20 day :ohyeah:

Couple of questions to fellow members:

1) Which would be the best under 4k step down/up converter with built in stab to buy ? (I have read lots of discussions on the various threads but am confused)
AVR is rated at 460W power consumption @110V

2) Which would be good sub 40k tower speakers with RMS handling of upto 150 RMS. (Will add and amp later to boost power later)
I prefer a crisp treble and a hard tight bass. 50%music 50% movies/tv.

Was earlier planning a 5.1 speaker system hence had shortlisted the Def tech pro cinema 600 5.1 system but on listening to it compared to a paradigm 90ct it didnt sound crisp/bright enough, The paradigm seemed better...
Though, after reading on the forum have decided to first buy towers and then add 5.1 system later.

AVR output is 90W@8Ohms and 125W@6Ohms per channel

Request your suggestions for the above two and also if possible where in Pune can I listen and get a good deal. Have tried Sound Factor and AV Excellence but both do not have any towers in the price bracket :(

Thanks!

guys,

I have shortlisted the following 2 speakers, if anyone can give me an update on their price it will be a BIG help:

1) Definitive Technology bp7006
2) Polk Audio RTi A7

Thanks

1.MX step dn Transformer for 2.5k
2.Q acoustic towers, wharf towers can come in your range.

Thanks@Spirovious!

any suggestion on the models as it is very tough to see different models in pune.

I have been doing more research today and seem to think the Polk RTi a7 or paradigm monitor 7 might be the perfect fit although a bit over my budget..

As the AVR output is 90W@8Ohms and 125W@6Ohms per channel it is better to choose speakers with impedence at 6 ohms. With this impedence my suggestion is for Wharfedale 9.5 or 9.6, better 9.5 as it is rated at 150w at 6 ohms .

Regards

Correct me if am wrong. 8 Ohms speaker are easier for the amplifier to drive than the 6 Ohms speakers. The lesser the speaker amplifier, the tougher for the amplifier to drive it....

I would suggest you check out the Sonodyne FS 2605 V2 (24K). I did audition them with Yamaha receiver and they are very good. Give them a try & let us know your feedback.......

Sir,
The amp is rated for both 8 and 6 ohms at 90wpc & 125wpc respectively. The reason for suggesting wharfedales is they are rated at 6 ohms . The benefit of 6 ohm speakers to that of 8 ohhm speaker is that the lower the impedence of the speaker the more power they draw and increased current means they have a wider dynamic range and can be turned to high volumes more easily.

Regards

Thanks@Spirovious will check these out

I agree that 6 Ohm rated speakers will give more volume easily, at the same the sensitivity is also an important factor, a speaker with a higher sensitivity like 90+(eg. klipsch or paradigm monitor or polk rti) will also lead to higher volumes.

The best option IMO will be speakers with 6 Ohm,power handling upto 150 RMS, 90+ sensitivity and 3 way, with a tweeter, mid range driver and bass driver (atleast 8") all separate...... though at my price point of 40K all of this together seems to be askig for a lot :ohyeah:

6 ohm spk has more THD than 8ohm.If you check AVR specifications carefully, you will find the same.6ohm draws more power & may cause Amp out of control at higher volumes.

Check out the Jamo s718 speakers also.

With the 1911, you should also be able to Bi-Amp the front speakers when using the system in 5.1 mode.

I am using a Jamo s718 on the front with a 1910. Have set the AVR to bi-amp mode. Overall, the thing is extremely loud. The 1911 has same specs for the AMP. I havent tried to run the front speakers w/o bi-amping, so I do not know if bi-amping makes any difference in sound quality. The s718 are rated at 6 ohms.

1) DEFINITIVE TECHNOLOGY BP7006

Went in with high exceptions after reading the rave review about this speaker...here what I thought
a) Speakers looked nice covered in black cloth on all four sides
b) The highs were the MOST dominating sound from these speakers and believe me they felt very ROUGH on my poor little ears
c) The Mids were overly subtle and dwarfed by the High and low freq.
d) The bass was tight but didn't have depth or too much punch....it also felt like the bass was playing in its own world, away from what the other drivers were playing

a separate Sub is definitely required for deep bass.

Overall...was very very dissappointed. My ratings : music 2/10 & Movies 6/10

2) DEFINITIVE TECHNOLOGY PRO CINEMA 600 5.1

a) Cute little package will look nice anywhere
b) Crystal clear Highs.....though a little rough/bright
c) Very good Mids, held themselves very well through all that was played...just a tad cold sound
d) Nice heavy and deep base...though the sub was booming during the acoustic guitar(might be the settings)

Good 5.1 system overall. My ratings : music 6/10 & Movies 7/10

3) Paradigm Cinema 70CT 5.1 system

a) Bigger sats compared to the the deftech, Boring and boxy looking Sub.
b) Crystal clear highs.....very clear but not harsh at all. I even heard some detail in music I had missed in the deftechs
c) Excellent Mids (not as loud as the deftech), played everything very well and had a nice warm sound
d) Bass was nice and low, though not as deep as the Deftech, no booming at all.

The best part was the warm sound compared to the deftechs

Very Good 5.1 system overall. My ratings : music 8/10 & Movies 8/10.

Will be checking out the Paradigm Monitor 7 in a couple of days, and will make my decision.
Being in Pune its really difficult to audition the other speakers in my list like the warf 10.5, Klipsch RF 52 or polk rti A7

Will keep you all posted....

Did you try hearing the ProCinema 1000 brother? Slightly over your budget! But worth hearing. The 600 has the smaller BDSS drivers. Wait till you hear the ProMonitor 1000 with the larger BDSS drivers. And also, the ProCenter 2000 is a super center channel ;-)
