i got my sonus faber concertos. compact but heavy like hell.

opened the first speaker box and found it intact.

but opened the second box and found little plastic chips littered inside.

petrified i took the speaker out and found the connection (where the speaker wire connectors are) plastic panel on the back pushing out on the bottom two screws. i gently pushed it back inside and now it is firm.

i remember reading somewhere that the quality of this specific plastic part is cheap. and that had cracked/chipped a bit.

so can i connect the speakers to my amp to check it out. or is there any danger here of shorting something or generally harming some component inside?

appreciate any insights.

most reliable way is to check with a multimeter....get it checked with a pro or someone who knows how to use the multimeter!

hey all, i plugged it in and it sounds ok. not sure if i should get it 'professionally' checked. if so by whom? appreciate any suggestions.

subbu sir, you should drop in this weekend. i have the concertos hooked up to the rotel 1062/1072. played some sample music and thought it sounded great but found it a tad harsh with certain types of music - maybe i should give some time for the pair (speaker/amp) to warm up. my mom listened to a balamuralikrishna cd for an hour and loved it as well.

good to know . the harshness should go away once its burned in. Is there nothing missing/broken as you had mentioned plastic chips in the box? You might want to check that

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
