Found these interesting videos from Mr. Naresh Gowswami of Ahmedabad, Gujarat IN

Wonder what would be the branding on this turntable - "The Gowswami - Michael Jackson", perhaps

Disclaimer: Mr. Gowswami is a regular on olx.in with all kinds of old vintage audio equipment. Sharing for common interest, no personal or commercial affiliation with Mr. Gowswami

Thanks for Sharing this Reuben. Wonder where the Spindle and motor are sourced from.

He machines everything locally. Self taught man. He keeps coming with great ideas. And sells lot of vintage audio equipment's at less price compared to current market.

Wow. This is seriously impressive. Looks like those VPI Signature beauties. Does he mention the price anywhere ?

Very good find!
Seems like a good Turntable at least core ones!
But, some of the videos he seems really high while talking!
High…maybe, maybe not but at least someone is giving it a shot.

Does anybody know of anyone who has bought this ?

His Daddy Cool demo on some basic speakers wasn't very inviting. But I would be curious to know the cost and sound quality.

u may b interested to know that an indian company Cadence in Pune bought SME. further they also bought Gerard the old turntable company and in the process of making the famous 401 turntables. the new SME arms now cost a small fortune and i hav no idea what the Gerard 401 will sell for. but chk out the cadence web page, it is very interesting.

no idea about 401s but the number floating around on various audio forums was 12,500 GBP for their 301 rig, during the pre-covid era.

what a beauty!

Does heavy platter make the sound better? Can you please elaborate? what about motors, tonearm and the Pre?
Heavy platter means higher momentum (mass x velocity). Here velocity is constant, but by increasing the mass, the momentum of the platter has increased. So it becomes more and more difficult to change the speed of the platter. Now if you remember Newton's second law "The change of motion of an object is proportional to the force impressed; ". For a larger momentum, you will require more force to change the speed.

Hence heavy platter will continue to move at a constant speed even if the motor speed / voltage changes a bit.

The converse is also true. Heavy platter will take longer time to reach the constant speed from zero and that can be compensated by putting a more powerful motor.

It is also the same reason why a moving train takes more time to stop than your bicycle.

That doesn't justify "the sound better" equation! it does sound uniform, but how does quality change just by platter!

Its always a function of the resonance ie mainly platter material, size and the mat. Just the mat can change the sound from a turntable.
