Videocon D2H HD No 5.1 Sound

Surround effect is there alright in all channels when I set the AVR to 5.1/Cinema-DSP and it shows on the screen also. Since my TV does not have ARC, I have connected HD STB to TV through HDMI and AVR through C-axial. I'll check with STB---AVR---TV through HDMI also.

Try not applying any DSP at all. Try source direct. Also, there should be a display setting where you could check the source signal type. That should display DD. But as i said earlier, i doubt in coaxial u will get DD displayed. Surely go ahead and try the STB->AVR->TV HDMI way once just to check the genuineness of DD signal.

man videocon cc sucks to the core, i heard here in the forum that dolby digital sound is possible in HD channels via HDMI itself but after a software upgrade which the cc guys dont know about at all , please help, my soundbar is 2.1 channel with separate subwoofer ,but supports dolby digital and dts too along with pcm

, i have a normal HD box(not dvr) , and i have a soundbar samsung, now my sound bar has hdmi in and out , 1 optical input and 1 aux input , how do i get dolby sound from it now, i saw HD box has 1 spdif and 1 av out .

please help ,thanks

First things first. If u have HDMI in ur STB, obviously u have to connect either HDMI or Optical or coaxial out of STB to the respective input in sound bar. Is that so confusing? HDMI will give both audio and video in same cable but since its a sound bar, u need a splitter so that one hdmi goes to video and another to ur soundbar. If u r using coaxial/optical for Audio, then HDMi will be used only for Video.

Secondly, Excuse me for my limited knowledge but how do u determine that u r not getting a DD sound? is there a display in soundbar that shows the signal is dolby ? If there is, U will get DD displayed only in HD chnnels and not in SD channels.

if u dont get that DD display, how are u sure u r not getting DD? For most of us with a 5.1 system, atleast the surround and center speakers wil tel us that true surround sound of dolby is working. As i said my knowledge of workings of a soundbar is nil. All i know is they say it provides virtual 360 surround for a 5.1 sources which sounds BS to me. So anyone please enlighten.

as of now i do not have my sounbar connected to my tv via HDMI cable , as of now videocon HD box HDMI output goes to my tv's HDMI input , and my both devices (tv and soundbar ) are bluetooth enabled , so my tv sends audio to my soundbar over the air via bluetooth ,i have ordered an HDMI cable already though , will reach me in 2 days .

my soundbar doesnt have any anything written on display which tell me whether i am getting a DD signal or not but there is a very unique DOLBY DIGITAL LOGO ON SOME hd CHANNELS ON LEFT DOWN CORNER OF THE TV (which i se only sometimes ) cant say its by broadcaster or by my soundbar itself .

even after my new HDMI cable comes , the connection i have to make as follows (as told by my soundbar manual ) my HD stb HDMI output will go to soundbar HDMI input and from soundbar HDMI output to my TV'S HDMI input(ARC) .

also , when i select dolby digital as my audio on my videocon d2h , my tv and my soundbar go silent, so i know that i am not getting DD signal

Thanks for providing all additional info. It helps in resolving issues.

Thats where i think the problem is. ur Bluetooth platform may be supporting just normal sound and not DD, So wait till u get HDMI cable and test it out. Till now , i have only experienced true DD coming via Optical/coaxial or HDMI only.

To confirm ur doubt, that is by the boradcaster indicating the source signal. It will display even if u dont have any sound system at all.

Great. That is certainly new info and it makes complete sense. Dnot worry as th ewait is worth it. Ur sound output will certainly improve after the HDMI cable connection.

Further,
also , when i select dolby digital as my audio on my videocon d2h , my tv and my soundbar go silent, so i know that i am not getting DD signal
Again as I said, in high probaility , that may be because of blutooth. DD may be going from STB to TV but when TV sends the sound over to Soundbar, bluetooth may be blocking it. Said that i am not sure as i never tried bluetooth. Anyone experienced in this, please pitch in.

First check this-->
Installation-->1234-->box settings-->tv settings-->audio output-->cinema mode
Then confirm if your tv has dolby digital decoder inbuilt..
To verify it check whether you can playback movie file with DD audio through usb.
If your tv doesn't have dolby deccoder you won't hear any sound whether STB send dd audio or not.
Also check whether your tv has any options that can show current signal info i.e. video resolution, audio input etc..
from there you can verify whether your tv has dd decoder or not.
Also pls get a proper avr/ht setup to experience dd audio as it should be.

have seen movie via usb with DD

You can see dolby and dts options are there but not selectable right now

DD not coming even in tv speakers even though tv can play it

Have you tried with coaxial output of STB..
It may be a case that your box need firmware upgrade..
Open a complain from here Videocon d2h
Feedback type would be software upgrade.

@lake1988, please ready my previous posts , i have posted my problem with videocon cc in details, they are not responding to me man

my soundbar has 1 hdmi in 1 out , 1 aux in , 1 optical in , no coaxial input in my soundbar

as expected , even after HDMI cable connection , the DD sound is not available because , when i choose dolby from yellow button , sound gets silent , not even that , there is another shiity issue now.

the connection i have to make as follows (as told by my soundbar manual ) my HD stb HDMI output will go to soundbar HDMI input and from soundbar HDMI output to my TV'S HDMI input(ARC) .

now after doing this above configuration , i have to select hdmi as my setting in my soundbar and i am supposed to get audio for the movies played by usb (via ARC feature , but thats not happening , also the anynet fuction is not working that ways anymore .

any help?

also ,with this setup of HDMI cables (and mode to HDMI as thats when set top box's video is shown on tv) , whenever i change source to usb movie player , even then the sound of my dth stb box still keeps running on soundbar(on hdmi mode of soundbar ,as thats the way to see set top box's picture on tv) and i do not get audio of my usb movie .....even though i try to change various modes on my soundbar from optical input ,to ,aux in, to tv mode or whatever .

Anybody?

If I connect my HD stb to tv and use tv optical digital audio output into soundbar optical input, will I get all sounds, channels and usb movies too?

Videocon D2H provides cheap hardware, I do own both D2H zapper and 2 TS HD+, D2h's subscription may be lower but their STB's are one of the worst STB's I have seen. This cheap hardware leads to lot of issues with inter connecting compatibility

How did you know that d2h use poor hardware..did you open and compare the components with TS box?
Let me tell you the SoC which is used by STBs are mostly made by one company and it's not some small IC that any other company can fabricate without violating license..
After all the quality boils down to pq of STBs..in that department d2h is better than TS..so why I am gonna bother what's inside the box..
You are judging the boxes' hardwares by their outer looks.

Sir, I have a TS HD DVR and D2H zapper in my home. I commented on the basis of using experience, D2H got less inter connects, the STB gets drifted away by the weight of its own cable ( which is fully secured by a cable ties) and I am planning to send my family members on rifle Shooting training to learn aiming the remote to IR Pointing!!!

hi...guyz.....
i am using TS HD+ since a year and half...happy with quality of both SD and HD ch video as well as audio, perticularly Dolby Digi sound in HD channels.
i have pioneer RS32 HT ....
but recently due to pricing policy of TS and less no of HD channels, i wish to change over to Videocon D2H HD DVR. can anybody tell me for sure that i will get DD sound in HD channels, as i am confused after reading various opinions in Hifivision as well as many other forums...
at present i have connections as follows....
STB--HDMI--AVR---TV
STB---OPTICAL out--AVR
will same settings work for me in case of D2H?

I get the DD audio via HDMI so no need in optical cable here.
Please note after firmware upgrade I got DD audio via HDMI.
