Videocon D2H HD No 5.1 Sound

I compalined to D2H aggresivly, they swapped my HD Zapper with a New
STB ,the Improvements are:
The STB is as same as old Zapper
Remote is newer , slimmer but with same button Counts
The Remote IR is Super resopnsive
STB Booting with back ground HD PIC
My all HD channel's pq is same as old STB
the PQ of SD channel's are Looks Improved
The Channel info programme info Box is very nice.
PVR recording options are present
Now the DD+ is transmitting through HDMI :clapping:
Overall lot of changes

just little update..d2h senior eng came and he said there might be driver issue wid dvr and my lg ht..he got the new launched 2222 box i guess..it was giving dd but onli usb recording in dat box..so i refused dat box..i purchased hdmi switcher and splitter wid optical out...now getting dd via hdmi of dvr using dis switcher.

it has 4 hdmi in ports and 2 hdmi out ports with optical spdif out port..i wasnt getting dd sound when connected dvr spdif optical out to ht optical in..but now getting dd by using this switch..
i have connected dvr hdmi out to switcher hdmi in then switcher hdmi out to tv and swicher optical out to ht optical in..u can get it on ebay..

Today I had got the call from one of the engineer from Bengaloru Circle office and he was telling that when I buy a connection, he can deliver the new box which he mentioned box number 2222. And he also mentioned that, this box delivers the audion in Dolby Digital but not in 5.1. Can some one confirm this? But I have mail from same Customer Care that, Videocon HD boxes will delivers the Audio in 5.1 by using Optical SPDIF cable.

Since other DTH providers are offering less HD channels and this D2H is more. So, I am very much concerned about the audio output of Videocons STBs. So, request any of the user can you give more details on this?

AFAIK, in the current world of India's HD STBs, there is no such thing called 'dolby which is not 5.1 '!! All HD channels signal will show Dolby 5.1 however the actual broadcast from the respective channel may be just 2 channel sound. Still note that the AVR continues to show the signal as 5.1. So rest assured, u will get all HD channels in Dolby...just that some of them in actual listening may be fake Dolby/Dolby 2.0 channel .

Sorry as I have tatasky HD+, i cant help u with specific details on Videocon D2H. I am sure some forum members will be of ur help in the required detail.

By changing the Audio option particular HD Channles I am able to get the DD 5.1 through HDMI itseld. Ishaan has posted in another thread achieve the same.

Once I change the audio option to Dolby, the output volume is low through my processor. Any ideas?

I was unable toto get 5.1 output or Dolby out from my Videocon HD Settop box to my Onkyo 616 through the Coaxial cable connected from the settop box to the Digital coaxial input. I found that there was one additional setting required to make it enable. See image 5 & 6

Image 6 - Ensure to keep the "Fixed mode" as "OFF" since you would need to mix between PCM from non-HD channels and Dolby from HD channels.

Hi. I have been using Videocon D2H for 3 weeks now and I absolutely love the quality. I have the sound running through my Onkyo tx sr705. I have noticed that 5.1 is only available on HD movies channel only.

Other HD channels like colors and star or star world only output stereo even if home cinema is selected.

Is this the case with everyone?

5.1 dd sound is available on following hd channels
star plus, sony tv, star world,star gold, star movies, movies now,colors,ngc,discovery,sony six, life ok..
star cricket - 5.1 dd for live broadcast
m tunes - 5.1 dd for some songs not all
z studio hd - fake dd sound.

Can you confirm if the 5.1 Channel list you mentioned above is still the same?
I am about to take a new DTH connection and am confused among TS HD, VC D2H and Dish TV TruHD.

So far I was under the impression that only Dish TV supplies 5.1 sound, till I saw your above post.

Just ordered the Videocon D2h HD White STB 2222 version.
Got it for 1525/- including installation and one month South platinum HD pack free.

Lets hope if they honor the order !

I have Videocon D2h normal HD box(model 2222). I am now planning to purchase the 5.1 speakers to get the 5.1 Dolby Digital HD surround sound.

Please advise which speaker model I can purchase for this purpose. My budget is around 6k.
