This is to let the forum know that I had an excellent experience calling the Videocon help line to register my DTH and recharge.

The IVRS was good, the call executive who attended my call was very articlulate, noted down all the details that I provided as per their SLA and was very courteous right through. This was a really pleasant experience and I am looking forward to the installation experience on Sunday.

More on Sunday on the installation and the actual HD viewing expereince thereon.

Yeah the customer service people are way better than SUN DTH and DISH DTH , They know what they are talking about. Coming to the Videcon DTH ... its way better than other service provide ... all the best ... i am sure you would love it .. hope you have taken the HD zapper thing !!!

It was installed today. The technicians called up and actually reached within 30 minutes like they said they would. The duo was a pretty down to earth team who came in a mo-bike ( I remember that Tata Sky came in a van and had a supervisor who got 3-4 guys to intall the dish). In spite of inclement weather (there was a heavy drizzle), they completed the installation in good time.

Coming to the performance.

As my HD LED is being delivered only tomorrow, I was able to check out the channels on my 21" CRT. I must say that the picture clarity is really good and the sound was crystal clear. Scores over the standard Tata SKY set top box. The remote is easy to hanld eand there are many more features in the DTH. What stood out was the channel display by genres which actually has a PIP display. The information screen for each program has a good visual indicator (a bar) which lets you know how long the program has been going on.

Shall post more once I check out the HD channels tomorrow.

No, this was not a DVR version, It is just a HD box. It apparently is 3D ready. I won't be able to check that feature as the TV I have ordered is not a 3D model.

So do you recommend it. What is the delay to switch channels +/-? During rain does it work or just turns off? Are you satisfied with the HD+SD picture quality? I am thinking to take D2H HD DVR hence pouring the questions. I had asked this elsewhere in the forum but got no replies.

Yes I would.

The switch time is something that I will have to observe and revert but I don't see any perceptible difference between this and my earlier Tata Sky SD.

It's been raining non stop here in Punr since the STB was installed and there hasn't been any problem in reception.

SD reproduction was excellent on my CRT. This was an observation for the one day I hooked it to my CRT TV which was then swapped when I got my 40" Toshiba LED yesterday, Now I can see the difference between HD and SD channels clearly. HD is excellent. My initial take is that the SD channels came out better in terms of PQ on my CRT. This I guess is because SD is more suited to CRTs than LCD/LEDs.

The set top box came free with the TV and I got the start up kit voucher when I paid for the TV. I had to pay Rs 1000/- for installation. Got a month's Premium HD package subscriptiopn worth Rs. 400/- free.

Not sure what the set box retails for.

The total cost of teh setup box with installation for HD Zapper is 2.6K ... Trust me its worth it ... I am a happy V D2H customer :)

A request to Videocon D2H HD owners.

Can owners of the D2H HD confirm if there is any Pixelation visible in the HD channels ?

i had gone to NEXT a couple of days back to check out a few plasmas. There they had a D2H HD Box connected to various Plasmas, Lcds and Leds. A single D2H HD box was connected via a 16 way splitter.

I asked the D2H guy to play various HD channels. And i noticed pixelation on some of the HD channels. Do you think the Pixelation was happening due to the splitter and because only 1 HD box was connected to so many TVs at the same time ?

Thanks

Hi,
I have started using D2h very recently, hardly about a week, you are correct we can see pixelations on some channels, mainly the active channels were Hindi songs are broadcast and in Travel xp & star movies, I am not sure but will check it again and let you know.

Hi Manish,

Do you have the HD box ? and are you talking about Pixelations in the HD channels ?

Regards,

Rana

Yes, I have the HD box, got it in Rs.2690/- with one month free subscription of all channels. yesterday I rechecked and was able to see pixelations in NGC HD & discovery HD channels, also I could see pixelations in the active songs HD channels.

Hi.

Is it true that Videocon HD DTH satellite receiver size is largest in comparative to others DTH service provider in India.

So it has a advantage of good reception in bad weather conditions?

Thanks

Size of the satellite receiver does not matter, it is the signal strength which matters, it is beneficial to have a bigger antenna dish, but Sun direct provides bigger dish but still it stops in rain and heavy clouds.

Hi,

Ive been using d2h HD for three weeks now alongwith my Toshiba Regza40PS10ZE LED TV.

I've posted my observations on picture quality in my post regarding the TV.

Coming to the DTH, I have noticed pixelation sometimes on Channel 961 (The Active HD Music channel). Haven't seen it on the other channels or maybe I've not been looking hard enough for pixelation.

The SD channels are a mix. A few of them are very close to HD in terms of PQ whereas the others vary from Good to Poor/Fair. I've tried to assess the PQ on these channels. (DOne last week when there was persistent rain in Pune)

I'm attaching a file with my ratings of the channels.

http://www.hifivision.com/attachments/television/5091d1315327395-toshiba-regza-40ps10ze-dth-comparison.zip

I'll run the assessment once again later this month when the sky clears up and see if there is any change.
