Want to purchase a new dth connection?

Dear friends,
I already have a tatasky hd+ connection for my samsung plasma tv. Now i want to go for sun direct sd connection for my 2nd tv(crt) that is used in my bedroom.
I have decided to go for sundirect because there are 3 exclusive 24-hour tamil-cinema channels i.e KTV, TAMIL CINEMA CLUB, SUN LIFE(24 HRS ONLY TAMIL MOVIES) which is not available in other dth. But when I called there customer care 3 days back, they just took my name and my contact number promising me that i will be contacted within 48 hours for giving connection, but no reply from them past 3 days. whereas in tatasky I got reply within 24 hrs only.
So, now in order to get connection from sun-direct what step should i take.
please help.

A point that you must note that just for the three channels you will be paying full fee for a new service provider unless the cost of the second service is more or less equal to the cost of the second connection under the multi-room/multi-TV scheme. As far as Sun DTH not contacting you, try to connect via a dealer.
 
TS customer care is superb. I stay at Mumbai. I just upgraded from my SD STB to a TS HD+ recorder yesterday for the bedroom tv. Placed an order over the phone with TS, got a callback within 10 minutes; the installation was done within an hour. Even otherwise for any service requests, heir response and action is too good. With this I now have 2 TS HD+ DVRs and one TS hd. Clarity is very good. Not many Hd channel, only other hitch is when it rains slightly, there is signal loss. If only TS could work out on these......

why are u promoting Tata Sky here, the thread starter wants certain chs which Tata Sk does not have plus Tata Sky is the most badly planned dth due to which already customers r suffering
 
@just4kix, I will try contacting via a dealer, and the cost of my second connection is more or less same compared to multi-room schem and also sun-direct package which i will be subscribing has all the channels that tatasky has plus the additional 3 channels that i have mentioned and many more.

@dino29, digital connection in my area is about 350 rupees whereas sun-direct package which i am likely to subscribe is about 185 rupees.

@iyersn, I want change in the channel package i.e why i am considering sun-direct

@dino: I am not promoting TS at all. Apologies, if you felt so, but it is a fact that the response and action from TS is unbeatable. I had given AirTel Dth a try and was given to understand that I could pick and choose channels to my liking and pay only for those channels, however for the first month I could have only the channel pack (specific channels in that bouquet). After one month when I tried to switch over to the channels of my choice, even after selecting and submitting online I could not get the same. Calls to customer care were fruitless. I stopped paying after my 6 month advance got exhausted and then the line was disconnected. I then got a call from Airtel where they asked me to pay to get the connection reactivated and promised me the channels of my choice. I fell for it, made the payment and again it was the same cycle. I got frustrated and decided not to deal with such dishonest provider. All this I did because Airtel was offering more Tamil channels than TS at that time. I am not saying all others are bad, but I have not heard of anybody saying good either. Would rather have an honest provider who gives what's promised rather than a .....
 
man, TS sucks. I purchased an HD box to replace SD box. It took 100 calls and more than a week to get that set working. When it works, it is lovely, when it fails, well, you will be left fuming. Funny thing is that I am even charged for the days for which it didn't work. I had no time and energy left to follow up on that. Getting it work was good enough to eat up my time and mental energy.

I am looking for alternatives. I pay so much just for 1 channel - Star Movies HD. Now the quality of that too sucks. So many compression artefacts when watching on projector. If that is how HD channel is supposed to look, I am better off with something else.
 
@anm, I am surprised that you are getting intermittent reception. That is something I have never experienced - neither with dish TV (with whom I was subscribed earlier) or Tatasky (my current). There have been rain outages from time to time, but that is, as they say, expected with KU band.
 
it was not intermittent reception. The new box was not activated for whole week or two. My mom was so upset as it was TV in her room.

Do not decide based on those channels. I have sun DTH in my hometown. Tamil cinema club and sun life repeats the same movie again and again .Also all these movies would have already bern played in K TV which is available on all DTH. Try d2h, it has more watchable tamil channels than sun dth.
I booked online at 12 pm and got it installed by 3.30 pm same day .. What would you say about customer service about that?

But I have already booked for a sun-direct connection yesterday itself.
 
I have cancelled the booking request now.

which is better among airtel and videocon in terms of pq and amount of channels that may be added in future for prospective tamil viewers.

hi friends,
I decided to go for tatasky itself, after all the circus i have done, through muti tv connection, based on two reason

1. My father felt that we already have a sd stb(inactive-not connected to 2nd tv).So the only charges that are going to be are the installlation charges.

and


2. Tatasky's previous encouters were fairly smooth.

But actually what happened was

I called the tatasky customer care on 10-9-2013, they told me they will get the sd stb paired with hd + stb within 24 hrs, and then send the technician to my house on 11-09-2013 after pairing.
So when i called on 11-09-2013 also Tatasky cc is telling the same thing, that they will "first pair within 24 hrs" and then "send the techician tomorrow" but when i called on 13-09-2013 they are telling they have to first get the sd stb activated, then if you call within 2 hrs "we will send the technician for the multi tv installation".
Now, I am frustrated about tatasky's approach and i don't know how to get the installation done from tatasky.

PLEASE HELP

Call the customer care and ask them to transfer the call to escalation department or to a senior manager. Speak to the senior manager to resolve your issue. Make sure to check if he/she is actually a senior manager once the call is transferred.

OK THANKS, I will try speaking to a senior managar and see what is the repsonse.
