Hi guys,

Since there was no thread of wetek core, so I'm taking the liberty to open a new one.
https://wetek.com/product/wetek-core

Can somebody please tell me if wetek core is better or raspberry pi 3? I'm confused between the two.
My priority will be playing offline media. YouTube, H265 capabilities considering its the future.

Btw if I'm not wrong both these players will not play videos in Web browser considering there is no option of browser. Am I right?

Thanks & Regards

you do understand, wetek, is an android media player, while Rpi is a Single Board, linux SOC based computer, that can be used for various purpose/projects per your needs. You have to configure Rpi accordingly before it will serve your purpose, a media player is an already configured player for media playback. Both can be used for offline media playback, and youtube, however I dont think Rpi 3 has H.265 capabilities .... I mean via hardware Acceleration. There are beta custom OpenELEC builds that have included H.265 optimization, but nothing very promising as its all Software accelerated ...

I'd say for you go with wetek (if thats what rings your bells) else also look out for minix neo x8-h plus

Hi!

I've bought one Wetek Core, these were my experiences with it.

Well, after some tests ive made, alongside with Shield, its one of the best Android box on the market.

I already had some Minix, K, and MX, but

Why Core is different from the others?
Well, first of all the support of this device is awesome!
After reading a lot on kodi and openelec forum, I realized that the Wetek brand grew a lot on the past months.
They support the teams like no other.
Libreelec was created a few weeks ago and already has the support from the wetek brand.
Kudos on this!

My review on the device.
Well, the box itself is pretty, no big deals on the concept, 2 external usb and 2 internal.
Honestly I would like a better refrigeration system, but after running 4k all weekend, the box was warm, but nothing to be panic of.

The RCU, its light (no batteries included ?) the air mouse does the job, but I have a K400 and I use it for everything.

Connected the Wetek core and made the update, in here I disagree on something, I had to use a mSD card to make the update, but it seems its only on the old firmware, after this I wont need the mSD again.
Everything updated and fully working
I have to say, the Wetek core launcher is the simplest but very intuitive launcher!

Connected my G account and made the updates for kodi and some other apps.
Downloaded the Netflix, my old minix only had 720p and all the reviews said that core were capable of 1080p!

And its true, they deliver full HD content on Netflix, no issues, no stutterings, all great!
They also have a app to change the refresh rate so we can have true 24p content on some movies/tv series
The only issue on this, is if you select one app for 24p, it will be slow on the menus ?

Connected a Xbox360 controller and I was able to play some games from playstore without issues.
Tested the dreamcast emulator reicast and played Shenmue :D

Besides that, its android, you have all the cool apps from PlayStore

The dualboot its great, the ability to have Android and OpenELEC or LibreELEC its awesome.
The ability to change between them using only one simple menu its very intuitive.

OpenELEC, everything runs very smooth, even with the MQ6 (heavy skin) the Wetek doesnt sweat.
Just connected my NAS and everything was there, my movies and tvseries.
FanArt and BoxArt without any effort.

But!
In life nothing is perfect, on the first update I had to use one mSD card so I could update my device.
It doesnt come with batteries, and the packaging could be better.

On my TV, HDMI cec didnt worked well, but my PS4 doesnt work either, so its the TV.

Ive registered on their forum and the community there is great
Always trying to help, and forwarding some requests the users make is very very good.

For me it was one of the best purchases I ever made!
