You seem to be an SMS fan...

If you need help from other friends here... Do speak in full sentences, and tell us more about your requirements.

Whats dia ? Dead in Arrival -- Oh... Google helped me .. you mean the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 or 8.3 series speakers. :)

Did you listen to these speakers ?
How did you find them ?
What price offers have your received ?
Why did you shortlist these two speakers ?
What about other manufacturers in a similar price range or even less or more expensive ? ( A norge bookshelf is available for 7K .. and so is a Cambridge Audio Bookshelf ... A Monitor Audio Bookshelf is priced similar to a Wharfedale 9.1 etc... .. and my own self-made extra-large bookshelf speakers may cost 3000 to make :) )

Hope you get the idea. The more you speak about your needs and interests, the more people can help and share their views... :)

So anyway.. as I am here..

Thats a Diamond 9.1

I could not find a Diamond 8.3 on Wharfedale's website. May be discontinued ? Did you find somebody stocking older products or you are looking for a second hand one ?

Anyway, Diamond 8.3 seems to be a Floor stander...Vs the 9.1 bookshelf..

Hi Arun,
8.3 will give you full spectrum sound including deep bass, whereas you will find 9.1 comparatively less in bass. On the other hand 9.1 will sound lively compared to sober sound of 8.3. If you are not too picky about sonic-character, then choose 8.3, as you will not find any frequency-band to be missiing.

I have auditioned the Polk TSI100..... and Wharfedales 10.1 ..
To me the Wharfedales definetely sounded much better - fuller sound - i.e. better bass and mid-range and great clarity. Also - if you look closely and use the simple 'knock test' -- you will see the build quality of the 10.1 is better than the TSI100.

Note: if you go for bookshelves, make sure that you invest in good stands to mount them on. Wrong placement of these speakers makes them sound worse !

The 8.3 Floor stander - seems to be a good option... if you have the space both on the floor and around the speakers ( note: you will need to leave atleast 1 to 2 feet space from the walls when placing these speakers).
Why not listen to these yourself with some of your own music? Last time I was at Vector - their listening room was being refurnished. It must be ready now.... and the people at Vector seem to be friendly enough to arrange a demo.

I highly recommend this. Similarly if you want to look at Monitor Audio or Cambridge - I recommend you do this - so that if you later settle on the Wharfedales, you will know why... You can setup a demo with AudioPlanet at Koramangala... I have heard good things about Mr. Palani there..

cheers

arun, try tannoy f1 custom. more value for money speakers!!!
I think, its available in b'lore.

both of them are out of my budget, didnt try them. but im interested to audition psb alpha b1.

I was quoted 14k for alpha b1s in the past but never got a chance to audition. You can try Atom monitors or Polk RTI series thou....

recently listened to wharf dia 8.2 at vector, i felt the bass was good, mids and highs were ok. mrp 12.7k, 10k aftr dis.

Also liked the polk tsi100(9k aftr dis).. decent bass, good vocals.
both should do well with my kinda music(pop-rock).both fits into my budget.
cannot understand which would perform better at home with my nads.
my room is small indeed 10x10 ft.
any inputs??

I think you shld wait for alpha b1 audition and then decide.:)

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
